On the TR23-2G (5-20X50) does the dot cover much of the target at high magnification?

How many of you all had a chance to use/own this scope with mil-dot cross hairs & illuminated green dot set up?

Re: Trijicon AccuPoint questions

I looked through one of these when a Trijicon Rep came to town for a local LE product expo. Two things went through my mind:
1. WOW these scopes are clear! The glass is just fantastic, especially for the price.
2. WOW I can barely even see that dot. It may as well have not been there.

In terms of a tactical scope in general, I thought it was good. In terms of a tactical scope with illuminated reticle, I was very disappointed. I was hoping Trijicon would illuminate all of the crosshairs and subtensions like on an ACOG, but instead it's just a measly dot. Even at higher magnification, it's harder to see. I never looked at it at night, though. But still, I wasn't terribly impressed with the use (or lack thereof) of the tritium and fiber optic illumination.

It's why I decided against buying one. So, I can only speak to what I saw when I looked through it and played around with it outside during daylight. Hopefully you can get someone on with some more practical experience that maybe will have a differing opinion.

Re: Trijicon AccuPoint questions

Hey USACS thanks for your experience with this. The Trijicon site says that there is a manual override for the adjustment of the fiber optic during daylight use.

I like their proven qaulity record and what I consider to be a fair price for a 20X optic. My main concern is that the dot would obscure too much of the target.

Re: Trijicon AccuPoint questions

The manual override is the eyepiece housing that rotates around the diameter of eyepiece. This can be used to cover up the fiber optic receptor (or whatever it's called) to make the dot dimmer or dark, or open it up and expose more receptor to make the dot brighter.
The dot is pretty small, and really won't cover up much at all, but that's really subjective to what ranges we'd be talking about. Obviously, the results at 1000yds would be different than 200yds.

Re: Trijicon AccuPoint questions

One other thought that came to mind, are the turrets resetable to zero windage and elevation after zeroing on a rifle?

I sent Trijicon an email asking them this, haven't heard back yet.

Re: Trijicon AccuPoint questions

I called Trijicon today about this scope because I had a question about the elevation and windage travel. It only has 40MOA total travel on both the elevation and windage. That was a deal breaker for me in a 30mm scope.

Wha!?!?! Was it 40MOA in each direction, or 40MOA total??

Re: Trijicon AccuPoint questions

I have the 3x9x40 green mil dot and I love the way the dot is, very crisp and always seems to be just the right brightness, I use it on my R15 for fox hunting at night under a red light. I have heard others mention about not being able to see the dot hardly but I find it hard to believe. I can print very good groupd with it @ 100yds.
