Once again, I find myself undecided about which optic to choose. Trying to decide between (TR21 1.25-4X24) and the (TR24 1-4x24). I want Trijicon because I do not want to worry about turning on or battery life. Anyone have experience with either of these? One any better than another. Eye relief looks better on TR21. Any problems with the 1.25x vs 1x?

TR21: Eye relief 4.8"-3.4"
1" tube
1.25-4 power

TR24: Eye relief 3.2"
30mm Tube
1-4 power

Re: Trijicon Accupoint TR21 1.25-4x24 Any Good?

I have the TR21, got it used and like it a lot. It's very quick to the eye and on target. That said, I understand that the TR24 is improved in every respect, consistent eye relief through the zoom range and brighter image.
I shoot both eyes open habitually and my brain does whatever brains do to compensate for the 1.25 Vs 1 at the low end. I find it a non issue.

if price is close, go for the 24

Re: Trijicon Accupoint TR21 1.25-4x24 Any Good?

I use the TR24 1-4 30mm and I think its superior to the TR21 in every respect. The 1 power is faster for the close up work. The eye relief is more consistent and doesnt require the extreme forward mounting the TR21 does. That being said you can find some really good deals on the TR21's if you look hard. Lots of reticle choices available you might want to look at some, lots of varying opinions on the reticles. I never could shoot the triangle on the post that well at long distance but some people can.

+1 to what hummerdawg said. I've seen TR21's go for as low as $425 used, TR24's around $625. As to the reticle, personally, I am not a fan of the triangle either. I like my TR24 with the green german #4 over a buddy's amber triangle, but YMMV.

Re: Trijicon Accupoint TR21 1.25-4x24 Any Good?

I have the TR21 with green #4 reticle. I have used all the reticles, and I prefer this one to all of them.

21 or 24 is your choice, but for reticle, go with the crosshair. You will like it WAY more than the triangle

i think reticle choice is all on the operators personal preference. i prefer the triangle. really its best if one can just run down to the gun store and actually look through them both

I agree but unfortunately, I don't have a local store that stocks a good selection of optics. However, I got the chance to sight up a TR21 & TR24. Both had the triangle, one red and the other amber. For my use, up close to mid range, the TR21 is out. The 1.25x is a little awkward up close compared to the 1x. I suspected it would be that way but just wanted to confirm before making a choice.

Since both had the triangle, I didn't get to compare reticles. Not sure how I will like the triangle while actually shooting? The TR24 was the amber color. The triangle and the amber color would both be new to me but I may give it a try. If I do decide to get it, I will post a range report. Thanks for all the input!

Re: Trijicon Accupoint TR21 1.25-4x24 Any Good?

I have the Tr24 triangle on my m4 and love it. Zero is the tip if the triangle for more precise shots and the triangle serves nicely as a " red dot" for close up work. For groups/target or primarily smaller stuff, the crosshair may work better. My rifle serves as a yote/plinking/truck gun/ home defense tool and I find the triangle to work well. Btw, the glass is outstanding.

I also vote forte 24 model for the above reasons...constant eye relief and a more true 1x

You have it reversed; the TR24 is the 30mm 1-4, the TR21 is the 1 inch 1.25.

You are mounting it on an AR I assume? I have the TR24G with the green triangle. It is presently mounted on my home defense AR carbine in a Larue SPR-E mount, at 1x works as a nice dot, and at 4x can mess around at a range.

The glass is very clear, and the whole BAC concept (shooting with two eyes open) works well. Even though I mounted the scope in the SPR-E mount, you can get away with using a regular eye relief mount. I believe the TR21 reqiures the extended eye relief mount. If you are planning on putting it on an AR you need to take into account how you are going to mount it.

I did not have a chance to look through a German 4. I heard the dot was on the small side. While I am sure it is better for shooting small groups, I have higher magnification scopes for that.

I plan to use it in the fall on my hunting rifle, for woods hunting in upstate New York I have a feeling that it is going to be perfect, 4x is enough magnification for shooting off the tree stand, and 1x with the triangle will be nice for fast acquisition while stalking/siting on drives.

There were some rumors floating about that Trijicon would be releasing the 1-4 with a ACOG reticle, but so far it hasn't happened.

Re: Trijicon Accupoint TR21 1.25-4x24 Any Good?

I think an accupoint with ghost ring/red dot would be great idea. I have the 4X32 acog ghost ring and really like it for quick shots. I also heard from friends that the illumination really decreases after 6-7 years, not 15 as claimed. It costs $400 (todays prices) to be recharged; a consideration I'd say.

This. From a dealer perspective, I haven't sold a TR21 in two years, but a boatload of TR24s....

The TR21 is fine, but the TR24 is an improvement in all aspects, except for price LOL

Re: Trijicon Accupoint TR21 1.25-4x24 Any Good?

Another vote for the TR24. I had a TR24G on my AR and it was the best of both worlds. As stated above zero on the tip, and just use the triangle for quick shots.
