Rifle Scopes Trijicon accupower 1-8x28

Have one on a 3-Gun rifle. Compares optically well with my CQBSS. There are a few threads here I thought. Knobs click well, but the push-push is just OK to dial them. I've only dialed once to put 7mils on the gun for some unkown distance shooting on steel- but it was just as easy to hold over.
I have the green and it will wash out on a bright day on the red sand/dust that passes for soil here in Colorado. With the big features, the reticle is still usable. Seems to be holding it's zero.
I'd go with the red. 1-8 is a great range for up close to long enough to air out 5.56 to the limits of an AR.

Perfect for that. Don't know how ultimately durable it is, but it is the tool to go from 0-800 meters. I think the 1-8 is perfect for 308. My cqbss usually lives in my lmt mws, but I'm too cheap to run the ammo.

That's the exact same reason I purchased mine: light weight .308 gasser. Before buying I had to get over my initial disappointment Trij didn't do a better job with the illumination, which absolutely, positively, does not meet my definition of "daylight bright" (Red illum, FWIW). That being said I still believe it to be the best 1-8 LPV option in its price range. You should be able to buy one for between $1,100 and $1,200. I would not pay anywhere near MAP for one, personally.

The CQBSS is overkill that I bought when it was the only real 1-8 option and $1000 alternatives were not even a dream. I really like the Trijicon. I agree the reticle could be brighter.
I was not a fan of the reticle, the "eye box", the illumination or the weight. Clarity was pretty good, a little distorted around the edges, not terrible though. The center crosshair is too big for any precision work at 0.2 mRad thick; I hold wind for long range (<700 yards) so the horizontal stadia line is thin enough to hold on smaller targets. Not daylight bright by any means, bright enough to catch your eye, but it starts to fade out on reflective targets such as white steel. The turrets have nice solid clicks, and the toolless zero was really handy.
The biggest problem I had with it was, I had to have perfect sight alignment to see the reticle, which sure, having perfect sight alignment is ideal, but 25 yards and in, it can be negligible with very little POI shift. Most likely a bad habit for me coming from a Leupold Mk6 1-6x and being able to see the reticle with less than perfect sight alignment. There was a big difference in time acquiring the reticle between the 2. But when my speed goes from a red dot to speed comparable to that of iron sights with the rear sight set on the 300-600 peep hole, its hard to make that switch.
I have yet to find a LPV optic that I truly like. All of them have their pros and cons, but a lot of the pros cant justify the cons for some of them.

Thank you all for the great info. I'm still on the fence with what I'm going to be doing with this rifle. I mainly want to be able to punch tight groups at 100 yards, steel out to maybe 500, hunt deer and have a pretty accurate battle rifle. I figured the 1-8 would suit me but I also like the NF nxs 3-10x42.
That at being said I also thought about running the cheaper primary arms 1-8 and see how I like it before I drop the big coin on the trijicon. I'm so back and fourth with this build because like I said I havnt really nailed down what I'm going to be using it for. Long range accuracy or short to mid range battle rifle. Thanks again

I think I'm in the same boat as you. I was wanting something in the 1-8 range that would be daylight bright for CQM but I could also crank up for mid range. I've looked at all of the 1-8 optics out there and none so far have been exactly what I am looking for. I settled on a 2.5-10 FFP Vortex PST and a Vortex Venom mini red dot at a 45 degree cant. I think eventually the manufacturers will be putting out true 1 power to 8x or even 10x optics that can serve many roles well.
How about a Athlon Cronus 1-6x24. It has daylight bright illume, a real reticle - meaning it's not BDC it's a true mil or moa and very well done. It's a higher quality scope with alpha glass.
I used a Midas which is SFP and one step down in quality to both holdover and dial out to 675Y with no problem hitting 2 moa steel. Great scope too but not quite daylight bright illume.
