I am currently waiting on a DPMS SASS and researching glass. I want something with mildots, but that can also be used in low light. I originally planned on a mount with a small red dot for close quarters then I noticed that Trijicon makes an acupoint with mildots and an illumiated dot. Do any of you guys have experience with this scope? Is the illuminated dot easy to see? is there a better option that I am not seeing for low light? Should i go with the leupold mark 4 and an emergency back up red dot.

depends on the price range but there is a lot out there. the trijicon sights are great, what magnification were you thinking? the illumination in the trijicon is visible in low light and against a dark back drop. it's a neat system, but isn't as visible in bright conditions.
you could also use a burris pep-ar mount or a warne ramp and mount a small reddot in conjunction with a variable powered optic.

I am looking at a 3x9 or 4x12, I was thinking about those mounts as well, but if I can get it all in one packaged then why not. So are you saying the the trijicon isnt visible in bright sunlight? I want to find one and actualy look through it, but no one seems to have them.

I know Trijicons have very limited amount of elevation adjustment. Like a ridiculously low amount, given their reputation for making great optics. The 5-20x model has something like 20-30MOA IIRC (or was it 30-40?) of adjustment. Not sure where the 3-9x and 4-12x are situated. The glass is fantastic and they're very strong scopes.
As for the dot in the middle, I've looked through at it and it's definitely not what I would consider "CQB Capable". The triangle post BAC reticle is fantastic for CQB, but not the Mildot illuminated dot, IMO. It's just too small and not all that bright.
Of course, YMMV.

I had a TR23 for a few days. I was pretty dissapointed in the glass, especially at 1k price tag. My Meopta's glass was so much brighter and sharper while being $300 cheaper. I promptly took it back and got another scope before I even put a round through it.
I believe that it has 50 MOA of adjustment.

I have a 3-9 mildot accupoint, the illuminated dot is small and is basically the dot made by the crossing of the reticle horizontal and vertical lines. It is visible in daylight with the fiberoptic window uncovered but is not a CQB scope by my understanding. I happened to call Trijicon the other day to ask what the travel was on this model and was told 40moa total. It has really good glass but is a hunting scope in my opinion. I would look elsewhere for a combo long range-CQB scope but remember usually scopes that attempt to do everything tend to end up doing nothing well.

The 3-9x40 Accupoints I've examined had about 68-72moa of adjustment, not sure where the 40moa is coming from. I like the 3-9x40 but the wire reticle in the crosshair and mildot is not well finished and is a turnoff for me.

Hey Scott, that is good to hear, I was going by what Trijicon told me, could be the tech was referring to 40moa of up travel.
