I just bought a Vortex Razor HD spotting scope and now I'm looking to purchase a good quality tripod for it.

I hunt in Southern Arizona and find myself hiking all over many different mountain ranges, ranging from 3000ft-7000ft elevation.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a lightweight tripod, since ounces adds pounds and pounds add pain when lugging it through the mountains.

Thanks everyone

Outdoorsmans Tripods | The Outdoorsmans

Been chasing Coues (and everything else the West has to offer) for decades and these are what I've been using since they introduced them 10 or more years ago. I use the medium size. It's what goes in my pack anytime I'm away from the truck and I backpack 90% of the time. I've used and been around a pile of tripods over the years and nothing has surpassed my Outdoorsmans for a lightweight tripod. I have used lighter but they end up not as steady. For a good lightweight solid head look at the Jim White or Outdoorsmans.

I know this is off topic a bit. Anyone looking for a rugged, stable, mostly vibration free tripod needs to look at the Sampson tripods for large cameras. I got one of mine from a TV station. They used it for remotes. If your patient they don't cost that much. When I head out with a set of big eyes it's the only tripod I'll use for long duration observing.

Just want everyone to know I went with the Vortex Summit XLT Tripod which I was able to find for 200 dollars and it is amazing. It was lighter and collasped more than the manfrotto. It was also a fraction of the cost of all other options with similar weight and features.

If anyone is looking for a tripod, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Vortex's higher end tripods!!
