Tripod grouping 3” right- Help

I’m shooting a T/C .243 bolt action rifle and have it dialed in pretty good at 125 yards from a prone position (2” groupings). When I move to my tripod (Bog Deathgrip) my grouping shifts about 3” to the right (same 2” groupings). I’ve made sure the tripod is level… any idea what I am missing? I’m running the ATN 4K Pro 3-15 optic.

Any chance you may be loading the bipod in a way that is twisting the stock into making contact with the barrel?? I found that a flimsy stock can do this and cause the same condition you are describing. Just a thought.
Something I’ll have to check. It is a plastic stock so definitely a possibility. I might try re-clamping the bipod closer to the trigger where there is more meat.

I bet you it’s this. I’ve noticed something similar on a friend savage axis II with the cheapo plastic stock

That’s what it sounds like. How did you fix this issue? Clamp lower of the stock or closer to the barrel?
Well not sure if that works for you but I would definitely start by trying to mount it as far back as possible with the clamp, or
1) Remove the clamp head and just drop a pint size gamechanger bag on top of the tripod and see if you still have a big poi change
2) Consider putting a 4" area419 arca rail using tnuts or welding nuts and use a arca clamp ballhead like a Anvil30 or a cheaper leofoto - I know this would change your whole setup but that's what I'm currently using with my Manners ultraclassic setup and I'm pretty happy with it.

You need taller rings,
That is your issue 😎

Your likely clamping tight enough to cause the stock to touch barrel as mentioned

Test that by clamping close to the trigger guard. It will trap your mag in while clamped but likely resolved your issue.

A chassis/Arca mount would solve the issue and allow you to position forward on the gun. Not a lot you can do with cheap factory stocks unfortunately

Thanks for the help. Thought I was losing my mind but at least there is a solution. Just looked at the stock and it is very weak and flexes with just my hand pushing in it.

This is just a suggestion although the likely culprit

When night hunting you don’t generally do many mag changes on the fly anyways. As you just don’t usually have the time. Especially when you have 4-5 rounds in a bolt gun

If it works you may just have to loosen, slide rifle back, reload, slide forward, re clamp.

That’s what I was thinking too. I’d be lucky to get two shots off let alone 5.
