I'd like to hear others thoughts on the height of their tripod that is appropriate for observation uses. Primarily for use with a spotting scope from a standing position.
I'm about 6' tall and I've noticed that some of the popular tripods, for example the Feisol 3372, list a max height of 58". That seems like it would require bending over too much to be comfortable with a spotting scope. My spotting scope preference is the straight eyepiece type. Seems like it would require a similar height for use with binocs.
Secondary use of the tripod would be for shooting, but the main purpose is to hold a spotting scope at a comfortable height. What have you found that works?
Right now I'm leaning towards the PVA Comp 40 with the RRS Anvil 30. For those that are using this setup, is it a good combo for use with a scope? Or should a look at a different head?
