About a year ago, I was unfortunate enough to buy a Santa Fe Trooper M-59. Well, it worked great when I got it. It was right at 0 degrees with a 20mph wind and the gun worked great. When I tried it in warmer weather it would only eject the first case or two. When things warmed up, the extraction process ended!
For those of you not familiar with the thing, it looks like an M1 Socom at a glance. It's essentially a semi-auto Beretta BM59... the mags look identical to the Beretta.
I've taken it to a local gunsmith who polished the chamber and he couldn't get it to work.
My question is:
Anyone out there who thinks they can fix it? My guess is that it needs a re-barreling / new chamber. It is NOT M1A compatible. The barrel has no gas tube and the bolt is spring operated with a housing for the end of a rod and spring assembly attached to the barrel.
I can take pics of it and E-Mail them to anyone who's interested.
Thanks, Coyoter
