D/FW AIRPORT — A truck loaded with pyrotechnics prompted a security incident that had a lot of people on edge at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport just after one o'clock Sunday afternoon, the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Police said a stunt performer picking up a passenger left his Penske rental truck unattended outside Terminal B.

Officials were concerned because the truck — which had an SUV on a trailer hitched behind it — was parked adjacent to a gate where 200 U.S. military personnel were being welcomed from Afghanistan.

Part of the road in front of the terminal was closed off as a precaution, and the bomb squad was brought in to investigate.

Officers found several weapons inside the truck in addition to the pyrotechnics.

Police said the driver — who works for a <span style="font-weight: bold">Discovery Channel reality show called "Sons of Guns"</span> — cooperated with authorities and was not charged. The weapons were licensed.

"I guess you could only describe it as being unaware of your circumstances and unaware of the circumstances around the day, and unaware of the circumstances regarding security at the location you happen to be in," said D/FW Airport spokesman David Magaña.

The incident did not affect flights or operations — other than parking — at Terminal B.

The roadway adjacent to Terminal B was reopened about three hours after the alert was issued.

Weapons AND pyrotechnics found inside the Bums of Guns SUV?

I am just shocked. I cannot believe that in a million years they would try to glitter up that show. It's great as it is, with the Erector Set-style gunsmithing, so this news comes at a big disappointment for me.

And to bring out the SUV for returning service members? They don't need to do that, they already have a ton of government contracts.

May I, as a lifelong resident of this state, apologize on behalf of the rest of the citizens of Lousiana for the actions of those guys... Swamp People is at least entertaining...but these yahoos.....geeez

Re: Truck prompts security scare at D/FW Airport

I'll blame the Discovery Channel before I ever even consider blaming Louisiana.

Keep in mind that American Choppers was doing the exact same thing before Bums and Guns came on.

As much as I hate these ass-clowns, I really can't harp on them for this. They are simply carrying on with their business and the fact that they got nailed on 9/11 is meaningless, I have no idea why they felt the need to apologize or claim bad judgment, what they did was really no different than you and I boarding a plane with our business laptops, i.e. they're just the tools we use in carrying out what the terrorists hate about us (freedom/capitalism). I'm just glad that we are able to carry on day to day with activities that the terrorists seek to undo. Most importantly, security worked and for once it seems there was no gross over-reaction.

When Fox was showing it last night all they showed was the rental van and the front of the truck on the trailer. I was pretty certian that it was the SOG's bronco. Was gonna search today but no need to now.
