True and Glue Before and After PSA-65

In for results. My BCM upper was so tight I couldn’t even get my lapping tool into the upper, let alone be able to turn it if I couldn’t get it seated. I had to heat the upper quite a bit to get the barrel in.
If you have to tap the barrel extension into the receiver there is no need to true or use Loctite since the ID of the receiver and OD of the extension will hold the barrel concentric and rigid. We started using locktite back in the early 90s because the fit between barrel and receivers were terrible. Now some receivers like Vltor and Mega are very tight.

Regardless of your turnout I still applied you for your shooting, you are well and truly doing better than most people I see on here. Shooting a large frame AR proficiently is no easy task and maybe this range trip hasn't proven anything concrete to the argument but judging by your groups and if you decide to stick with this platform I believe you are capable of being a 1/2 MOA Shooter.

This is just my opinion but by reading your groups it looks like the reason behind your point of impact shift would be due from changing your grip or canting your rifle.

Well thank you sir! I would like to believe I am a decent shooter. My Desert Tech or Tikka in an XLR chassis are either way better platforms or I just need to get the hang of the AR-10 platform. The groups below are from the trusty bolt gun.
I felt very good about every single trigger pull on this test but who knows we all have are good bad and awesome days.
I also cannot for the life of me call wind for shit. Lucky for me at 100 yards that’s not much of a factor.

Ain't that the truth, we all have bad days for sure. And just think if you had a Tier 1 rifle like the JP LRP-07 working under you, I wouldn't want to be down range from you...lol

I was lucky as a kid my first rifle was an M1 Garand my Grandfather gave it to me and my 16th birthday. It's taken me many years to average sub 1/2 MOA with semi autos and I started pretty early.

Realistically speaking you don't have much of a sample size. There's nothing wrong with your groups, looks like the 140s tightened up a hair today with a couple that might be on you.

As far as the 147s go, did you start with those cold? A cold shooter shoots differently. I would be very happy with those results.

I shot about 10 rounds of the 147gr to site the scope back in after having to remove it for lapping the upper. I also shot about 15 rounds through the Desert Tech before starting with the actual test.

Ok that is a very legitimate achievement! Seriously! From both a shooter and equipment standpoint.

My passion has always been semi auto rifles I've got heaps of custom bolt action rifles ranging from $3,500-$6,800, but I always get bored with them, not the case with the semi automatic gas powered rifles, they provide a constant and never changing challenge.

One thing I will warn you about is that if you decide to take a break from shooting semi-autos and go back to bolts, it truly sets you back quite far when you are operating proficiently with semi autos. It's just to easy to get complacent and slide back into lazy shooting fundamentals when you go back to bolt action.

On the flip side though when you're at your peak performance behind a semi auto and you grab a bolt action you will see that your training with the semi-auto has probably double your skill level behind the bolt.

May be just me , but , I always shoot slightly better at diamond targets over dots. My cross hairs mostly cover the small circles , but I center better on the diamond points. :):)

Not just you as I too feel like it’s easier to hold on target when able to use the diamonds. Your theory also fits with which groups are better and when each grain of bullet had the dots VS diamonds.
