I looked up what welfare is. Send out Medicaid and shut the rest of it back down while the wall is built. Welfare is bullshit otherwise, and 80% of the rest of the federal gov is bullshit too. Seems to me that while welfare can help honest folks ride out a rough wave, the only genuine qualification, in general, is to be poor enough. The government literally gives people money because they are poor, even non-native citizens if they have been here for at least five years. Not just poor because of medical bills for a special needs child or something, not just I-got-laid-off-for-a-month poor, but lazy poor. I know they have this shit over in Great Britain, but here in the United States of America I did not expect it. I guess I just figured it was more controlled. There's probably an entire black market to trade turkey dinners and diapers for drugs for all I know.

You aren't even scratching the surface. There are "stores" in the city that buy high dollar items for cash, (razor blades, Tide pods etc.), and resell them online. They post a list of the items they are currently buying so the hood rats know what they need to go steal or use welfare bux on so they can get paid. There is an entire class that has no interest in ever working..

You can call me privileged that I've never had to and could do it if I had to, sure, but I'm also privileged to know better than to pull that kind of shit on my own country. I'm being serious when I ask if someone can explain what welfare is to me. Is it unemployment or like a government workman's comp or something? I'm seriously not trolling, I don't know what it is. I know about EBT cards, are they part of welfare? How do you qualify for welfare?

Other than that blind spot of my own, I think we should slash 80-90% of the federal government overhead and oversight. Leave the parts that are meant for checks and ballances, enforce term limits for every elected and appointed position (especially the DOJ), and cut their paychecks back to the national median rate per hour.

Welfare/SNAP/food stamps are part of the Farm Bill. It was passed in the 4th Qt 2018 so I believe the EBT cards won't be turned off. It is a massive drain on the taxpayers. They even left in the part where there is no work requirement to qualify. Thank you Rep's.

Between the stores that will launder it, to the inevitability that some of that laundered money may be spent on illegal drugs, my taxes could be contributing to the corruption of their community. Communities that probably have no hope of really coming together and building a new solution to the problem on their own because of the lack of oversight and/or enforcement of the original system.
