Hi All,

I have decided that Remington 700 SPS TACT AAC-SD is the one to buy, but after doing more research I found another Rem. 700 version that I really like.

It is Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 20" AAC Brakeout Black Synthetic. The problem is that I could not find the specification of Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 20" AAC Brakeout Black Synthetic. It does not even list on Remington website.

Does any know the specification of 700 SPS Tactical .308 20" AAC Brakeout Black Synthetic? Particularly the barrel twist rate?

Thanks a lot.

Re: Trying to buy my first bolt action rifle... Please

mine is a rem700 SPS and it is a 1:10 twist rate im not sure what that model is exactly but it may well be the same how heavy a piece are u trying to sling?

if you want to sling 208gr Amax/Vmax 1:10 is great i have a friend that can sling those with a 1:11 twist

every rifle and barrel is different you just need to figure out what makes it sing

sorry i don't know more but good luck with that

if barrel twist is a major thing then see if you can get a donor action or a custom and get a smith to barrel to exactly what you want its all dependent on the application eg. ie. do i need a flat head or star screwdriver

Not sure of the twist if you call Rem ask them if it has the R5 barrel on it if it does that is 11.25 twist. I have a R5 11.25 twist and it likes the 190 SMK.

Here you go it's a 1/10 twist and from every review I've read - everyone is extremely happy w/theirs in terms of both accuracy & reliability. Most everyone dumps the factory stock and upgrades to a bell & carlson, manners, AICS, or, McMillan stock.

The only difference on the link above is the suffix designation "SD". These were the first ones available which had a muzzle cap covering the barrel threads.

They've recently been shipping w/both the AAC blackout (flash hider) and AAC brakeout (combo flash hider, muzzle brake)...like the picture you posted.

Cheers,

I got it.
The label on the box indicates that its model is an ACC-SD and it has the 1:10 twist rate barrel.

Now, it is time to buy a good scope. I am thinking of the vortex viper 6.5-20x50 mil dot and TPS base (20 MOA) & ring. I don't know what TPS ring height to buy to get the lowest mount position for this viper scope. Any suggestion?

Thanks,
Cal

Re: Trying to buy my first bolt action rifle... Please

It came wiith the soft rubber Hogue stock and ACC brake/hider. I paied $678. About 62 bucks more than the ACC-SD model. The ACC brake is 99 bucks. Therefore, 678 - 99 = $579, cheaper than the regular SPS tac. (without muzzle thread).

Sweer setup. Have been looking at doing something similar. Is that a manners t4a? You planning on putting a can on it.. A couple of local guys claim they group better with the can.
