Re: trying to decide on an AR
I'll toss my vote in for a FAL. Proven reliability, eats anything, you can tune the gas for any ammo you run across. Ergonomically superior to the M1A, it's a breeze to field strip, parts are cheap, you can go from a full stock version to a folding PARA setup in less than two minutes if you've got the parts...which are abundant...they aren't typically regarded as "precision" rifles, but i find they arent as bad as an AK accuracy wise, not quite M1A or AR, but my STG58's are surprisingly close, those barrels are the cremedelacreme! A shot out south african will still hold minute of man at 600 yards...I'd recommend at least trying a good one before you decide...$2000 will build a pristine STG and give you plenty of cash left over for railed hand guards, scope mounts, mags and ammo.
