From a past experience, hand tightening a set of A.R.M.S. 22 rings on my scope left deep indentations on my scope tube. Could have been the quality of the scope or rings or tightened way to much or a combination of all three. I have come to purchase my first high end scope, a set of high end rings and a torque driver. Trying to find the tolerance of both the rings and scope tube I was able to find the tolerance of the ring screws alone(65in/lbs.) Have had no luck finding tolerance levels on the Bushnell XRS 34mm tube. Can anyone advise on what the max tolerance on this tube should be. Thank you, Chris

Lapping them in will help, you will be able to see the high spots. When your done you will see you have 90-100% contact. Need to make sure your rings are aligned right. Brownells sells some ring alignment tools, dosent take that much longer to check the rings and lap them in.

65 inch-lbs. for the "ring screws", assuming you're talking about ring cap screws, is too much and will cause severe damage.
65 inch-lbs. sounds all right for certain cross bolts.

The 65in/lbs. for the screws is the screws alone. Past that threshold the screws will collapse. That's the only info I got. I believe 15in/lbs is the way to go from the research i've been doing. But always learning.
