Tumbling Rounds

Hello all,

Been reloading for awhile now, however I never thought to tumbling live rounds, this is just an out of curiosity question. Is it safe, practical, benifical or just a straight ridiculous idea?

Some manufactures do it but I find it easiest and cleaner all around to clean cases before powder and seating.

Vibrating can break down powder etc but I figure that in shipping it gets vibrated pretty well already so I wouldn’t get too worked up over it, just be aware that it’s possible.

Some of the coating on powder controls burn rate and other characteristics. I would not tumble loaded rds.

I tumble loaded rounds all time, I have zero negative experiences from it, my chronograph and targets tell me its no big deal

Never done it, but not sure why it would be needed. Resize, trim, deburr, tumble, prime, powder, add bullet, and shoot it. Not sure what tumbling is for after loaded, everything should be clean and lube free before primers and powder are added.

I tumble loaded ammo that will be stored long term in cob treated with car polish. Keeps them from tarnishing.

I'm another that has tumbled loaded rounds with no problems. I don't tumble them for very long. 15 to 30 minutes will get the lube off or give them a coat of wax.

Yup. I'm with these guys. I dont do it all the time. I'll do it with pistol ammo that want to look especially shiny for maybe 15-20 minutes. Rifle ammo as gone through the tumbler dor 15-20 minutes and chrono'd against non-tumbled. No difference
