Two Stage Trigger

I prefer a two stage trigger. I am not interested in debating the merits of single versus two stage.

What is a good two stage for a Rem 700? And I would really like a trigger that also has one available for the CZ455 also.

I have Timney in both now, and they are very nice, but single stage.

One of these, got one on my Longrifles Inc rifle. But if you want it lighter than the 1lb pull it comes with let Tom know you want it lighter. Mine is set at 11oz.

Xtreme is the way to go. Tom is only about an hour from me & a great guy to deal with. Have 2 mod22 tac triggers.

Wouldn't say that much better of a trigger, but the function of the 2 stages were/are superior. used to have a huber & sold it to buy a CG because the huber wouldn't reset the first stage if you we're to engage and let off without running the bolt handle to reset it. This may have been resolved now, but at the time it was an issue for me, for I had it on a hunting rifle. If Huber issue was resolved, I believe both triggers to be very equal.

It seems a good two stage is a LOT more expensive than a good single stage.

At this time, I think I will work on loving my single stage triggers.

Unless he changed his design it isn't a 2 stage. It is actually a set trigger. If you have one pull through the first stage, then let off. You will feel that there is now no weight in the first stage. You can re-set the first stage by flipping your safety on and then back off, or opening and closing the bolt. I still like them alright, but they are not (at least not the ones I've had) a 2 stage trigger.

I based my understanding on posts like these and feedback from a couple of shooters/'smiths in my area:

CG Jackson is a true 2-stage trigger. Huber is a set trigger that feels like a 2-stage trigger. I have both and like both but they have different feels.

Huber is not a true two stage. You have to work the safety to reset once you pull through the first stage.

The main objection people seemed to have when I asked for opinions was that the Huber 2 stage is actually a set trigger. So after pulling in the first stage, if you let off the trigger, the sear doesn't reset, but stays waiting for further pressure. What others have told me is if at this point you were to butt slam the rifle for example you could cause it to discharge even though your not physically touching the trigger.

The other 2 stage trigger that was put forward in comparison was the CG Jackson tactical two stage trigger which is supposed to be a true two stage trigger - ie, when you let off the trigger after the first stage, the sear resets and you start all over again from the get go on the trigger pull. This is supposed to be safer.

I am still waiting for my build, which includes the Huber, but have been thinking about swapping for the CG Jackson.

If this information is wrong, I am happy to learn...

The most recent one I encountered was a true 2 stage trigger. I believe he fixed the issue with the earlier runs. I like the Xtreme trigger just fine but their trigger shoes are massive and often take reshaping to get them to fit into a stock or chassis. I just dont like the idea of doing that.

The problem with that is the passing of information that you have no first hand knowledge of... is not fair to the product.
Mr. Huber has fixed the issue as far as I am concerned. The most recent trigger was bought within the last 6 weeks. I installed the trigger for a hunting buddy and tested it myself. It had positive reset every time.
I did voice my dislike for the first series of triggers he did and I believe he listened to feedback as he did redesign the internals. Otherwise, they are great triggers. I wish he made a single stage version.

Finally have my x-treme shooting tactical two stage installed. Had to inlet my AICS to clear the safety mechanism. Wouldnt be easy for anyone without access to a mill. However, its a great trigger and would recommend Tom Myers service to anyone.

This trigger you can dial out the first stage, but why would you want to do that?

Huber! I have run Jewell, Timney, X, and the Huber is the only one that comes close or exceeds my Sako trigger.

I have had great luck with the X-treme trigger. It took a lot of fine adjustments to get a great pull, but mine has been going strong through lots of adverse conditions ever since.

Dogs,

The bottom of the safety diameter had to be cleared. Went in there with a .25" bullnose cutter and dropped the level the safety was hitting by .15". Elongated the new level by .1875" fore & aft of the safety centerline. I just fuzzed into the sidewall of the aics trigger pocket on the side. Its really straight forward, and can be done in 15 minutes.

Sorry, but I didn't take pictures. In retrospect probably should have.

I have two Huber triggers. On a few years old and one that just came out of the shop a few weeks ago. After getting the new one that is a "true" 2-stage trigger in that it resets when you let off the trigger without having to mess with the bolt handle or the safety, I sent my old one in that did not do this and he worked some magic so they both feel the same and are "true" 2-stage triggers.

I just ordered a Huber match trigger for my M1896 Swedish Mauser and look forward to installing it this week.
