Just picked up my first Forster die for my 338 from Midway

and noticed a hole in the threads. Is this by design? Looks like a QC issue to me. Anyone have experience?

It's by design, air has to escape somehow, I'm pretty sure all dies have them.

Yes, it's by design. It really helps in preventing dented cases, as below pic, from too much lube when sizing.

Weep hole would be the correct name of that feature . Oil will escape thru it in case you over do it.

You're also supposed to use that hole to position the expander ball at the right depth. Bottom tapered portion of the expander ball should be inline with the hole.

This is important. Read the directions. These are the best sizing dies in my opinion.

Given all the (correct) answers that have been given above, why would he want/need to borescope his reloading die?
