I just picked up an ultrasonic cleaner and am considering throwing the Surefire 5.56 RC2 in it. It has about 5000 rounds through it and is heavier than when I first got it.

Are re there any downsides to this?

I also have a TBAC can in jail and am considering the same for it once it get it.

Yes do not put it in more then 20 mins at a time if worried about the finish. You may need to do it a couple different times (not back to back) to see the best results and not mess with the finish

Just be aware that the ultrasonic cleaners are corrosive on small springs. I used one to clean my HK USP and after multiple cleanings, I began having light primer strikes and DNF with the pistol. upon inspection, several of the small springs had corroded and twisted in on themselves, making them ineffective. I would estimate I cleaned the pistol utilizing the Ultrasonic cleaner on at least 10 occasions prior to this occurring, so plan accordingly. Im not sure if the suppressors have mini springs like that but there is a possibility in the collar that it does.
