Being that I'm a medical monkey, this article repulses me. For the life of me, I've never understood how medical "professionals" can become so incredibly apathetic to the point it causes harm to their patient.
Here's a comment from that article which gave me a chuckle at the George Carlin level of satire:
"Here's an idea: Let's put the senior citizens in prison and the criminals in nursing homes. With this move, we solve two problems. Seniors would have access to showers and hobbies. They would receive unlimited free medicine prescriptions, dental care, wheel chairs, whatever is needed. Bedding would be washed at least twice a week, all meals and snacks would be brought to them, and they would have constant video monitoring in case they fall or have a heart attack or some other issue. They would have family visits in suite especially built for that purpose. They would also have access to a library, gym, pool, and an outdoor exercise area complete with gardens they can attend to if wanted. their guards would have a code of conduct to be strictly adhered to, and attorneys available to address any concerns at no charge. As for the criminals, they would get cold food, be neglected, allowed to shower once a week. They would live in tiny rooms which they would have to pay a lot for. Medical attention would be limited and at a cost. And, they'd have no hope of ever getting out alive. Sounds like a good idea, right??? Oh, and in addition, the senior citizens would be in a safe gated community."
