I don't know, comparing my IOR to my Leupy MK4 on a hot day the IOR has a bit of mirage and the Leupy is like looking out a window while someone is hitting it with a garden hose...

My research and now use tells me different if you are talking 1-4X. The SS T-post holds no value for me as I just don't like it... your mileage may vary. The Donut reticle I liked BUT for 30-40 yard targets that 8 MOA donut is REALLY big.

I live local to SWFA and have bought several scopes, mounts, etc... from them. Heck you know what my deciding factor was in choosing... just call SWFA and ask them, THEIR SS1-4X or Vortex Razor 1-4X and see what THEY prefer.

With all of that said, if NF had what I needed or if I could've found a Short Dot in the $1300 range... I wouldn't own the Vortex.

Re: Understanding the Vortex Craze

I looked at the Viper PST 1-4 and the SS 1-4. Both are very very good optics for their respective price range.

What's not to like about the Super Sniper T reticle? It's simple and uncluttered, and being FFP, the small 1X reticle is very effective for close reactive work without being too busy; the 4X reticle is a good ranging reticle and a thin precise reticle for hitting silhouetes out to 400 plus yards. Not much for shooting paper, but, a very good practical reticle!
