I bought a Unertl scope from a (RET)Marine in Jacksonville. It is a very difficult scope to master. I had several people help me and I even read the book on using it. I was shooting at 100,300 and 1000 yards at Stone Bay. Why is this scope so hard to uses?

200yds – 2 MOA
300yds – 5 MOA
400yds – 8 MOA
500yds – 12 MOA
600yds – 16 MOA
700yds – 20.5 MOA
800yds – 25 MOA
900yds – 31 MOA

You're going to have to give some more details than "it's hard to use". Are you having problems zeroing it? Using the yard settings to hit at distance? Is it focused right, or do you have blurry images/reticle? Parallax? Did you have a sniper that is experienced with that scope helping you out?
That is a difficult scope to set up but a simple scope to use once you do. There shouldn't be too many problems so long as it is functional and set up properly.
FYI, the elevation come ups are set for 173gr M118, not 175gr M118LR. That significantly changes the simple scope settings once you get out to longer distances.
Give some details and pictures of the scope. Otherwise, it's like you went on a car forum and said "my car won't work, what should I do".

Your right Redmanss. I did have 3 (RET)snipers helping me out. It was hard for me to set it up properly in zeroing the scope. I have shot 22 comp since HS and just now starting shooting big bore. I bought this scope and really didn't do the reserch on it. My bad! Once I was set at 1000 yards I shot 5 shots and pulled 2Xs.

I would suggest that you think about selling that optic and pick up something that may be a better fit to your rifle / type of shooting.
The best home for one of those is an M40 clone build and they are getting very hard to come by.
I'm sure you could get quite a bit for it.

Last one sold for $3K and was considered a bargin.

I should have stuck with leopold or bought a NF. I paid $2500.00 I did look on line to see if it was priced correctly. I will post pictures of the scope and if someone makes me a good offer I would consider selling it. Too much scope for my shooting ablities.

Those are outstanding scopes, for their time and purpose, but if you're going to really get into shooting long range I would agree with the others on selling it too and recommend getting a good variable power mil/mil scope.
The Unertl unfortunately restricts your ammo selection if you are to get the most out of that scope's designed functions, and will only hold back you and your rifle's true versatility. You're in the price range for any one of the modern high end scopes you could be using.
With as rare as those scopes are, you will easily get your money back out of it and possibly even more on auction. There are a lot of collectors out there who would pay big time for a true Unertl.

Depending on the age of the scope, the center zeroing screw is probably worn out from having the set screw locked on it so many times in different locations. This will make it difficult to get the fine adjustment on the zero. We can replace that screw if you need.
