I have been looking for a 30mm , 20moa , uni-mount , high enough to mount a Leupold 6.5-20x50 on an AR-15. I did the math and none seem high enough. There seems to bee a limited number of manufacturers that even make a 20moa uni-mount. Trying to avoid so many pieces. Maybe my math is bad. I like the NF one , but the extra-high seems to close to call with a non-scientific mathematical equation that I probably could not do anyways.

Anyone using the new leupold ims?

Re: Unimount

The taller of the Nightforce Unimounts (1.375"?) works to mount a 3.5-15x50 NF NXS to a RRA LAR-8. I see no reason why it would not work for your application.

Re: Unimount

If you want more height, the Aadmount is higher at 1.625" and has 20 MOA built in.

A buddy of mine has one and it a quality mount. I just wish he would make one @ 1.375". Until then, I am a fan of the NF Unimount.

Re: Unimount

Hi

Our unimount is certainly high enough. It's 1.45".
But as the eyerelief on your scope is pretty long, it's possible that it would prevent you from most mounts all depending on where you have your head on the gun.
You will maybe need a fairly long extensionmount, and I would recomend you to check this before you order any mount at all.

I used to have a Leupy 6.5-20x50mm scope on my AR. I used a La Rue LT105 QD mount and it worked fine. The thing about the Leupy is eyerelief is only long at low magnification. When you up the mag, the eyerelief goes down significantly. With 30 to 40 MOAs of up, you should be able to reach the range limits of the AR without a canted base.

I don't think I have ever shot my rifle with the scope on the lowest setting.Shooting from the bench is all I do. I like my Leupold a lot. It is on top of a 700.I have something in the works now , but it is going to take awhile. When I talk about it I start to salivate at the mouth and my wife gives me dirty looks. So I will go no further than that.

Re: Unimount

Knights Armament single pc mount if you can find one for a fair price.

I know, I only had a 3.5-10x40 mounted but there is plenty of room for a 50mm objective. As far as height / ergonomics, I think KAC got it right for the average user. But remember not everyone is the same, small or large facial structures play a roll in you comfort and cheek-weld. Good luck!
