Picked up some spent brass at the range recently. The .308 Win was headstamped "CAVIM 83". The .30-06 was headstamped "HXP 63". Military stuff I presume, but not from L.C. Some other NATO country of origin?

STP, thanks for the link. According to cartridgecollectors.com, the HXP headstamp is from the Greek Powder & Cartridge Co. of Athens, Greece. The CAVIM headstamp comes from stuff made for the Venezuelan military.

FWIW: Cavim ammo shoots VERY well in my SA M1A NM. Don't think you can find it now.

The HXP ammo is what CMP sells along with LC. It shoots great out of my Garands.... accurate stuff. For those with "sensitive" ranges
that don't allow it .... it is steel jacketed.
