Suppressors Unreturned Suppressor issues...help

Hello all, I hate to go this route and one should not have to, but I have a Jet Titanium for a 300 win. mag. It has an unusual thread pitch and I cannot use it on a standard Armalite SASS barrel. I don’t want to go the adapter route, so I asked the original manufacture if he could make it a standard thread pitch and he said yes for an amount of money. I sent the device to Mikes in Texas and that was April 15[SUP]th[/SUP]… They said it would take 30 days…I still do not have the suppressor back. I have called the shop COUNTLESS TIMES and never an answer or the ability to leave a message…I have email them 4 or 5 times and NO REPLY…So, I am out one suppressor and hundreds of dollars. …How can I legally get it back. The BATF wants accountability and I cannot provided it or let this go. …Does anyone here have options I can take to resolve this issue. …I thank you in advance…

You have any documentation that you sent it to them? IMO, ATF wanting accountability of it is that simple. Provide them the documentation and let them address accountability.

As far as getting it back, file a lawsuit. Seek replacement cost, compensation for loss of use, stamp cost and legal costs.

If you have no proof you sent it in, you’re prob fucked. File a police report, move on. Hopefully learn your lesson

Looks like he is in Aransas Pass. That area was decimated by Hurricane Harvey. Not sure if Mike's shop was affected, but if it was, that might be why you haven't been able to contact him.

What unusual thread pitch?
To the best of my knowledge all of his cans, 6mm to .30 cal use 5/8x24.
The super magnums and of course the .22 cal cans have different thread pitch

I doubt you are gonna have much success, but you can try. You'd probably have to bait him, say you are sending something lucrative and be there the day he has to sign for it and confront him then. I was gonna say maybe he had health or family issues or even died, then changed my mind...

Because it looks like he's been doing this for at least six years or longer. It's all over Silencer Talk, they were talking of a class action suit back in 2011. Consumer Complaint Board has several unresolved cases dating to back then, including sent suppressors and taking cash for orders and not delivering. Sounds like he has his scam solid and nobody has really held him accountable. Could be a front for cartels to acquire shit too. Their site looks legit, still, I only use CC's and send stuff signature delivery.

It's amazing this guy is still able to fuck people over, why hasn't ATF raided this guy? Have you talked to anyone at your local ATF office? Show 'em what's been going on, give 'em your proof (I know you sent this signature delivery and didn't try to save $10 or some shit on shipping that?). I bet they'll call up the office in Texas and arrange a visit.

But then he'll be going to jail and then tied up in court shit --if anyone gets any money it'll be his defense lawyer, not you.

A civil case would work, but I'm willing to bet this guy is pretty savvy at avoiding summons. Just show the judge what the fucker's been up to since 2011 and your proof and it should be an easy to win case, but I'm no lawyer. After you get your money and shit back, THEN turn him into ATF and let them deal with him.

But wait... This is also the guy that sold you the can originally!? And agreed to work on it? How'd you contact him then? Email? You're likely gonna have to bait him with another computer and tell him you are sending can(s) for work like I said. Get a lawyer, get the case ready and send an empty box. They can deliver the summons when he signs for it (in some cases they can even play the delivery driver). I bet he goes to work and answers the door for that.

Then again, it crossed my mind he could be in jail already; he's fucked over a LOT of people and he's gotta be on ATF radar. They may have been waiting to let him commit more crimes. In which case you need to go about finding out how to get your shit out of evidence, if you can.

Next time stick with Sico, TBAC and the gang. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope some of this is of use.

If not, fill out a 5320.20 and send it to the local ATF, stating it's been sent in for thread work and you're not sure if you'll get it back. Include a polite cover letter.

Most shops that do this or have been caught doing this in the past are on the 'rob Peter to pay Paul' business model due to horrible business practices, gambling/other personal issues or just shit money management. They basically need new money to pay for shit that should have already been covered, and then kick that can down the road basically forever.

They doesn't explain leaving a customer in the dark and not contacting them about it. Sounds like a shady way of doing business, but mainly bs as there is info all over about this happening to others.

You guys obviously aren't reading through here... Look at my post. This guy's been doing this SINCE 2011!!! What was his excuse for the last six or seven years? OP isn't the only one and isn't even the latest one, there's a complaint from August about an order placed in June. This guy is taking people's money and shit and simply ignoring them after he gets it. Haven't seen ONE resolved case.

Only thing I can think of is he's selling stuff to cartels or gangs. What else do you do with years worth of stolen weapons and suppressors?

Again, talk to a lawyer and ATF. If ATF gets involved, it may sit in evidence until the case is over before you get it back. You may never get it back. If ATF puts him in jail, you won't see compensation. So as to whether you go down the civil case road or criminal case road is up to you. Perhaps ATF can get it back for you, I don't know. Never been in this situation, it's certainly strange.

"Robbing Peter to pay Paul" has another, more common and simple name already: Ponzi scam. If he's one man, then that's a nice shop he's got for himself, unless his site is a fake.

Hello all...Some news is available now...The suppressor was sent April 15th 2017 to Texas and I have a check copy for the amount in question and the company; compliments of Wells Fargo...As of Nov 29th I received a call from the store and a message from them since I am overseas now until Mid December. They stated that it was brought to there attention that I was trying to contact them for the work involved... For the last few months...I am on the other-side of the planet so I wont call them 0200 in the morning there time, but will later... They did mention that Hurricane Harvey decimated there shop and please contact us for information on what can be done at this time. I sympathize on the hurricane issue but the check/form4 copy/suppressor was sent April 15th with a promise of 30 day turn around time. The hurricane was Aug 17th to Sept 3rd...so, I am puzzled here. I did call BAFT, but there are a weird bunch...they seem mad all the time...keep getting a run around on numbers to call and then no one answers...its like they dont know what there doing!...I am a waiting man, but is it good business sense to brief your customers on WTF is happening. Its not hard to send an email or call your customers on issues...now did they lose my address...that's possible, storm and all...but I do have another provided number to call. As long as I get my can back in the modified condition requested I am satisfied. And will post accordingly...

He was doing this looooong before that hurricane. Don't give up on ATF, that's how dealing with govt. goes. Most don't know what they are doing, your job is to weed out the few that do. Try your local branch, did you do that? And his local branch, since they may know something about him? Calling their main number won't get the same results.

There are two sides to every story and I can vouch these are very nice people who run this business and If you dont like them well everyone has a story about gunsmiths they dont like including some who think their Jesus. The Hurricane completely destroyed their shop and anything else that wasnt bolted down including their RV, trailers. side by side and half their home. The wind ripped their roof off and destroyed their CNC machines and the salt water corroded all the tooling. They didnt have power for a month and still dont have WIFI. Its a miracle they are still getting customers stuff out at all on their old manual mill and lathe.

He stalled and missed the deadline when they were running new titanium monocores. They recieved his can and Backdated april check on JULY 21st not April 15. Someone is omitting some key facts here.. He was getting it recored not just rethreaded so he had to wait for the next batch since he didnt make the deadline. But like I said theres two sides to every story and yes Ive seen the proof.

I understand there are deep feelings against this business by some but this was before my time and Ive had good dealings with them unlike the two other hack gunsmiths who used to do business on this site.

You're just a regular old customer of theirs, but they show you communications with other customers, and shipping and receiving invoices for their stuff? That alone would be enough for me to swear off doing business with them.
