Stumbled across this in my search for a good scope mount/rail system for a universal night sight... I dont know if i really care about the side-rails, but the long 1913 system is just what i was looking for.... HOWEVER! The question for this thread is,
A) It doesn't say if the front half of the rail floats over the barrel or not and the supplied picture is terrible for verifying visually... which is a concern... and,
B) Is this a known, recommendable product, or can someone point me in a better direction?

Thanks for your time, Shooters!

Re: UNS rail system for Remington 700 question!

We have installed them here. They are designed to float and I have never had anyone complain about one. I personally have never recommend one because it seems like a little much for me personally but never had a problem with installing one if requested.

I've never had anyone complain either, but they flex a little too much for my tastes. When possible, I steer to the Badger Ordnance Embedded Front Rail as it's a rock solid mount and I don't have to live with the flex. The MARS is secured with the four screws on the receiver and everything forward floats over the barrel....Certainly not ideal....

Excellent Advice all around! thank you all very much for your input... On the note of the forward rail system... i have seen those before in photos, but cant seem to find one. Where might i look, and also, would a McMillan fit the bill for it?

Re: UNS rail system for Remington 700 question!

I can imagine that, due to leverage of the forward part of the base away from where the base screws are located, theres a chance the base screws might be stressed??

I dunno... having 4 tiny screws hold this thing in place would make me feel uncomfortable.

Unless it were welded to the action
