Seeing all the posts about scope covers here's a re-post of one of my threads from wayback in 2009....
There are many posts weekly about what BC covers fit what scope. There is even a nice sticky here on the Hide under Optics FAQ's by sobrbiker883 here:
http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-rifle-scopes/15107-bc-flip-up-sizes.html
In addition there is this chart by EA Brown Co here:
EA Brown BC Cover Chart
And still another by Optics Planet:

Although they are both great resources and I use them all the time, they both suffer from some problems; They are often wrong, and they are often missing the newer models of scopes.
For example look at the two charts for the Bushnell 4200 Elite series: The EA Brown Chart says the eyes are all #11's. Our FAQ's chart says:# 10,11,14,& 19.
So which is right and which is wrong? BTSOOM (which means in Hawaiian: Beats the Shit Out of Me.)
Due to engineering changes that scope makers do, they both could be right or wrong at one point in time or another.
This is not intended to slam the authors of these resources. But rather take everything listed with a grain of salt.
So is there an absolutely positively way of not ordering the wrong BC covers??? Well now that you ask, there is, several.
One is when you order a scope from one of our fine vendors like, Liberty Optics or SWFA for example, you can just ask them to send along your correct ones with your order. Or you could just call and ask them which to order for your scope, if that sell that model.
Failing that, or buying a used scope of dubious lineage, you can do this:
You only need three things:
1) A set of calipers
2) Your hot little hands on the scope your are planning to order covers for.
3) This chart below from Butler Creek themselves:
BC Products Chart
Hint:
If your scope is between two sizes offered, like for example your scopes objective actually measures 62mm, and Butler Creek has size 46 @61.7mm and size 47 @62.5mm, you want the one just UNDER the size of your objective, not over. If it's tight, that's a good thing. If it's too tight, boil it for two minutes like you would a egg. Dry it quickly and slip it on, before it cools, using a towel or hot mitts of course.
If you do happen to buy one size too big, a couple of wraps of electrical tape usually takes care of your fitment problems
That's the limit of my knowledge on how to obtain the correct BC scope covers.
Thanks for reading,
Bob
