Basic Mid-Range Tactical Rifle Course
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to teach the beginner shooter the practical and operational use of their scoped rifles out to 600 yards. Students will start out in the classroom each morning before going to the range for practical firing exercises. The following are some of the topics that will be covered: rifle type and equipment, the fundamentals of marksmanship, range and wind estimation, zeroing procedures, target indicators, known and unknown ranges, ballistic programs, care and cleaning of the rifle, barrel break-in procedures and much more. A certificate of training will be awarded to all participates who successfully complete this course. You must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 yrs old or accompanied by parent to take this course.
Equipment Needed:
A rifle capable of shooting 1” or less at 100 yards, bolt action is preferred, but not required. Common calibers are .223 - .308
Scope: a mil-dot is recommended, (since much of the work will involve using this type of scope) but the mil-dot is not required. Scope must have finger adjustment knobs for elevation and windage
200 rounds of match grade ammo or hand loads for your specific rifle (no armor piercing)
Bi-pod
Sand sock/rear bag
Ear protection
Shooting mat
Range bag (for your ammo, note taking material etc.)
Cleaning kit specific to your rifle
Note taking material, pen/pencil etc.
Rain gear
Small Calculator
