Hunting & Fishing *UPDATE* Major Fail @ 300yds

Re: *UPDATE* Major Fail @ 300yds

Hello,

"Badshooter" congratualations on your deer. I don't recall you stating your age or hunting experience in previous posts but in my opinion you are probably not just any ole "Bubba". If you were then you probably wouldn't have cared enough to start this thread.

The advice on which bullet to use is all worthy of your consideration. The rants questioning your ethics are uncalled for. Shooters and hunters are an opinionated group and we each tend to believe we are more right in our choices than the next guy. This forum in particular provides plenty of convincing evidence to use SMK's or certain other match bullets on deer. If everyone on here cared as much for the manufacturer's reccomendations as they appear to then NO one would be using reloaded ammo. I personally have taken most of my deer with a .308 Win using Nosler BalTip 165 gr. bullets.

I am 41 years old and killed my first deer when I was 12 years old and have taken quit a few deer in the mean time. We should respect every animal we choose to kill and should kill as cleanly as possible. Having said that, we all lose an animal on occassion. I am absolutely positive mother nature kills more deer than all of us put together. She uses no ethics nor mercy in her methods and even animal rights extremists praise her. We put ourselves on an ethical pedastal to avoid the ire of others in an attempt keep their approval.

You hunt, have fun, be safe, ethical and when you lose an animal (and surely you will if you continue to hunt long enough) after trying your best don't beat yourself but learn from it. As already stated: nothing goes to waste.

Best of luck to you and may God bless your future hunts,

Sim

+1 I've had many smk kills, all placed in the right spot of course.

I also had a friend track one after being shot in the head with a 7mm RM. After you track a deer that was shot in the head, where do you shoot to finish the kill? Obviously a head shot wouldn't do any good, he was already shot there.

Point being, some deer have the will to escape no matter where you shoot or what you shoot with, if you dont get a shot through the spine/neck.

I went back and ranged the failed shot this week. It was 322yds, I placed a 1 gal jug at the spot and tried the scenario again. dead center of the jug. </div></div>

Good for you - you hit the jug! When will you realize that a jug is not the same as a deer? </div></div>

Good for you- you posted a dickish reply, when will you realize that you dont have to be a dick to everyone just because you have sand in your vagina.
