I just bought a new rifle that came with a USO scope, base, rings and bubble level.

I have two questions. The first involves the EREK knob and it's zero stop. I was watching CS Tacticals video on setting up the EREK and the gentleman in the video states that he doesn't like to set the ZS dead on the stop but that he likes to leave about a 2MOA gap between zero and the actual stop.

He doesn't say why though. Is there a problem setting the ZS dead on your zero? That seems like the logical way to do it but I just wanted to make sure.

Number two, my bubble level is way off. I even removed it and set it flat on a level surface and it's bubble runs all the way to the outside. The level has clearly not been damaged but I can't imagine a piece of gear from USO not being perfect.

Am I missing something? Any ideas?

Re: US Optics question.

I have my EREK set so it stops about 1mil below my ZERO. The reason I have it that way is in some matches out here, they have a sideprone stage. Begin able to go below my ZERO, accounts for these things. In the dark, I just count back up to my ZERO from my stop.

This too!

Ahhhhh......this makes sense. Hadn't thought of that.

Brother, you keep right on dialing under for those short shots, esp if I'm in the same match please

Accounting for variations in load zeroes and the ability to dial for port up/port down shots is why I prefer an even mil under my zero.

I cant count the number of people who still dont realize that they are doing it wrong, and when you try to tell them they look at you like you are crazy.

Re: US Optics question.

All my Z/S's are 4 IPHY lower than my zero's. I do not use the dial when shooting short, thats another place the MDMOA reticle shines, because you can bust it down to 1/4 IPHY easy, and just hold

inside 50 yards and with a 100 yard zero on your optic you'd better not be holding "under", or you're going to shoot even lower. Wanna shoot em in the "T"? Aim for the hairline...

I had a brain fart. No other excuse other than that.

No, I understand that....I was just playing on terminology....I always hear the term "hold over" applied.
