Looking at both scopes for my Tikka T3 Tactical rifle. Ive got a couple of IORs already and really like the US Optics, except that its big. Will be punching paper at 600 meters and maybe a mule deer hunt. Opinions? Thanks.
May want to post this in the optics section. That said, I was deciding between the IOR 2.5-10 and the Nightforce Compact 2.5-10x32. I went with the NF and don't think I could have been happier.
Between the two I would go with the USO without question. I don't have a lot of experience with IOR but don't trust anything from that region on the world.
The glass in the IOR is very impressive and I like their illumination buttons on the erector housing but prefer the way USO did it.
I also think a Nighforce would be a better choice before the IOR.
Trouble with big fingers on a small keyboard. Looked at both scopes today and was very impressed with the US Optic unit. However, the IOR had very nice glass also. Prices for both optis run about $950. I will look at the Nightforce unit. If I get the US Optic scope will I regret a 10x for my needs listed above. Thanks.
Got both and both have been good scopes. Glass is clearer on the IOR but both are very good. I prefer the EREK and the ST10 is actually a small scope unless its the older eye box and a 44mm objective. Mainly a target gun I'd go with fixed power ST10. More hunting gun I'd prefer the variable IOR. I trust my USO's much more in terms of durability and if your options included the USO 1.8-10 it would be my choice banging steel or hunting and is what I run on my main hunting/target bolt gun.
honestly I think you will enjoy a variable optic for what your mentioning. I would look at the nightforce. but between your 2 choices I would go with the US Optics even though its not variable..

Take this to heart. Look at the FOV on 10x at 100yds.

That should direct you to the one you need.

A fixed 10x is not for big game hunting. Both are great scopes but these are not intended for the same purpose. Contact Scott @ Liberty Optics and he will take good care of you with an IOR 2.5-10x scope. The IOR scope will suit you well for hunting and long range shooting.
Scott is honest and helpful and will get you the scope for your intended purpose!
