Hey guy's I'm thinking about buying one of these scopes for an AR-15. The 1.8-10 is the one I'm interested in. It would have S/F and a lit retical if that's important. Being an AR-15 the mounting can be a concern.

What I'm interested is the minimun clearance needed for the T-Pal section. I've read the LaRue LT-104 is too narrow, I was looking at the American Defense mounts and they have 2.52" of clearance between them. I was wondering if that's enough.

I know there are other options, but I really want a Q/D one piece mount for this optic and it also needs some offset.

If anyone has one and doesn't mind measurring it I would be greatful. I called Jeff at USO yesterday and he said 2.93". I'm thinking now he may have thought I wanted the maximum mounting distance and not the minimum. If someone could confirm this.....

Thanks

Re: US Optics, thickness of T-Pal?

Neither the cantilevered Larue or ADM mounts have a big enough turret space to handle the turret box of the T Pal scopes.

The Larue LT 111 is big enough and ADM does make a mount that will fit but you need to call to get the correct part #.

Other options are the Spurh and Aud mounts.

Other than that you will be going with regular rings and a riser of some sort.

Re: US Optics, thickness of T-Pal?

Looking at pics 2.93" may be right. Max I think is 5.83". The measurement Jeff gave may or may not include the amount the EREK knob hangs over the turret block, this could be an issue with LaRue mounts having the ring clamp screws on the top.

2.93" = 74.42mm
tube length spec I've seen is 148mm
rear tube length is shown as 52.5mm

So... 148-74.42-52.5= 21.08mm for the front tube length. Looking at pics this seems a little short, I'd guess closer to 26mm for 1 inch wide rings to fit. That's why I'm wondering if the measurement Jeff gave includes the EREK knob since that would account for the 5mm+ difference.

There's pics of one in the C2 1.8-10X thread on the last page. Worth a look to get an idea.

Re: US Optics, thickness of T-Pal?

I looked at the pics again, based on the rail sections the measurement Jeff gave is correct from front to back of the turret block without the EREK knob. Looks like it covers about 7.5 rail sections at .394" each equaling 2.955", pretty darn close to 2.93", especially with 7.5 rail sections being a little more than what the turret body covers.
