KraigWY, I understand what you are saying and also agree with you to a point. Military vs. LE Sniping is like compairing NASCAR and Indy car racing. You race cars in both, however they are different enough that you can't crawl out of one car into the other without some training specific to that style. The extra "outside the box" training adds overall tools or skills to help you improve. That being said, if you are a LE Sniper and learn the methods, tactics and techniques of the Military Sniper or vise versus, one only enhances their ability in their current profession.
LE Snipers also are used for operations such as surveillance of outdoor grow operations and clandestine meth labs, in addition to border patrol ops, etc... that may require military style tactics and techniques. And in the current theater of military operations some of the LE styles and techniques are employed in the urban settings. I agree that they are different in general, however attaining a good level of proficiency in both can't hurt.
