Gunsmithing Used remington 700 actions

I work for a pawnshop here in the valley and I get a discount on pretty much everything. They have several remington 700 bdl rifles but with sporter barrels. My question was if these actions are good enough to build a long range rifle out off? obviously with new barrels among other modifications but my main question is are these actions built the same as the heavier barreled one?

Oh and I can get them for about $200 each rifle.....

Yes once a gunsmith works there magic on them. I have quite a few REM700 actions that were built up for custom rifles.

They make fine action for building on. Especially at that price.

but then he would be selling stuff on the site with less than 100 posts, and we don't want that, now do we.

I don't think he was offering to sell them to anyone. The original post seemed like he was just curious if it would be worth his time to buy them himself to have rebuilt.

I just bought a 700 sps dm in .243 for 250$. I bought a 700 ADL in .243 a guy dropped out of his treestand and bent the barrel for a buck and a half. 700s to build off of can be had for excellent money if you know where to look and how to make it happen.

$349 for a new adl $40 rebate sell the barrel and trigger for $100

In answer to your question yes.All 700s are built on the same tools and the same less barrel taper.As a gunsmith I have always said a 700 is a good base to build a rifle from.I would find a good smith to rework the action for better long range performance.If you have any other questions about rebuilding the 700 you may PM me

Academy Sports and Outdoors has the 700 ADL for $379 + tax here in TX. I know because I just bought one for a build I'm doing with a Mcree stock and barrel kit.
