Suppressors User serviceable or not?

I finally can afford a suppressor (on top of all my other toys) and have narrowed the choice down to Thunder Beast or Yankee Hill.

The TBAC cannot be serviced by the user. I seem to recall hearing that the YHM can.

If you can't take it apart, how can you clean a suppressor?

PS: The suppressor will be used on a .30 carbine and a couple 6.5mm rifles, but both TBAC and YHM have stated that the .30 cal size will work just fine on the smaller caliber. I've also heard that the can would work satisfactorily even on a .223.

I wouldn't think twice about the TBAC

they offer a free clean a year(I think)

There is no real need to take apart a centerfire rifle can. You will never shoot it enough for the buildup to cause a problem.

Your baffles will erode before buildup will become an issue.

This is one of the reasons why we don't jailbreak centerfire rifle cans!

Of the two I would go with a TBAC can personally.

You don't clean a centerfire suppressor... generally speaking there is no reason too.

if you want too, there are ways, spray some brake clean inside, shake it out, use hot water, etc.

But you don't' have to clean them.

Don't have to clean rifle cans unless you are shooting lead boolits through them, won't get the buildup like you do in pistol or rimfire cans.

The term "user serviceable" is used as a synonym for "can be taken apart" when this is not true. As others have said, cleaning is highly over-rated on centerfire cans, but any cleaning ("servicing") that we do can be done just as well by the user. In other words, there's no servicing that we could do that you couldn't do, other than cutting it apart to try to salvage some parts in the case of a catastrophic baffle strike or whatever.

You are right, cleaning is highly over rated on centerfire <span style="font-weight: bold">RIFLE</span> cans as its not needed.

Centerfire <span style="font-weight: bold">PISTOL</span> cans need to be cleaned however.

The only people that say they don't need to be cleaned have either never seen a fouled centerfire pistol can or bold face liars that have seen the buildup.

Nobody is talking about PISTOL cans, the context of the questions is clearly a RIFLE Suppressor and he gave you the two cans he was looking at... nothing to do with what you are talking about.

I know the OP was asking about rifle cans and I responded directly to his question earlier in the thread.

My last response was responding to ZAK SMITH's comment, "As others have said, cleaning is highly over-rated on centerfire cans" I wanted to make sure readers knew that that statement is valid for RIFLE cans not PISTOL cans.

Just making the distinction between centerfire pistol and centerfire rifle cans.

That's all.

Just as you thought I didn't read the OP's question others don't read the question and just read a response. Bad information spreads faster than good.

I apologies if my stray was out of line. I am still learning what peaves members in this forum.

User serviceable, ONLY if you plan to shoot cast bullets. Then it's an absolute must.

Jacketed only, go sealed.

Many thanks for all the responses (especially Zak's take on cans). Looks like the TBAC is the way to go. Besides, it's about the only make of suppressor that's on the line at our monthly matches and I've heard how quiet it is. (It would be perfect if it were rated for full-auto.)
