Users of scoped CETME opinions needed

Re: Users of scoped CETME opinions needed

The B-square base puts the scope up REALLY high. So much so you almost need to put a cheek riser on the stock. I may have the riser kit floating around, (I'll look for it) It put it up so high I couldn't use an EOTECH with the rifle at all. So I used a very low rail ( http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/HK-Low-Profile-Scope-Mount-For-All-HK-Rifles-Pistols-118p762.htm ) to mount a VX-2 1-4x20 on it. Now it's a really good combo, kinda feels like cheating inside of 400 yards.

The B-square HK/clone mounts are not great by any means. They tend to work lose no matter how they are attached/tightened down and as widnerkj said, they give you an impossibly high mount unless you are running an MSG/PSG/PRS stock with an adjustable comb or you install a cheek riser of some sorts. But even then, they are not ideal. The MFI mount (see above) or the original B&T mount is a much better option!

Also, when scoping your rifle, you'll need to be cautious of the scope you plan to mount because a long scope (and/or one with a large bell) can interfere with proper operation of the cocking handle. Try to keep the scope length to 13" or less (you may be able to go a little longer depending on how far to the rear you can mount the scope and keep proper eye relief).

Re: Users of scoped CETME opinions needed

The B-Square mount works to some extent but it really depends on the type of receiver you have on your CETME. If you were attaching it to a HK receiver it would probably work fine. However, the Century arms receivers for the CETME don't have very good mounting points. They made a stamped version and a cast stainless version, neither are really in specification to accept a mount. More importantly they lack the U shaped saddle in front of the rear sight that the HK rifle had. This saddle locked the scope mount in place so it would not slide forward under recoil.

The best option for the CETME would be to have a piece of picatinny rail TIG welded to the top of the receiver to accept a standard scope rings.

Re: Users of scoped CETME opinions needed

after alot of searching i got a good steel claw mount to work. make sure your CETME has the lug to lock the claw in place. i have seen them slide under recoil til they were against the rear sight. then i searched all over for a short scope. your eye needs to be close to the rear sight and thats why the stock is that length. so your eye will need to be pretty close, that means a short scope. i found a nice 6x32 that worked out pretty good. they do sell a little extender that replaces the butt end. the next thing i did was sell it and but an AR based 308. thats what helped me the most

I have been using the claw mount also and it works great on my HK91.

Re: Users of scoped CETME opinions needed

Thanks everybody. I was planning to made a wood cheekrest but I'll have a look on the rail idea. Which one´s a good one? Cheers.-

Re: Users of scoped CETME opinions needed

I had a scope mounted on a PTR-91 a while back. I think it was one I got from HKParts. Anyway, I sold the rifle but still have the scar on my left index finger from pulling back on the charging handle and taking a chunk out of my knuckle with the front of the scope.

Admittedly not one of my brighter moves.

Good luck,
Matt
