Rifle Scopes Using reticle vs turret

I'm sure this has been posted somewhere (but could not find trying to use search engine).
How many of you simply use the reticle to compensate distance vs turning the turret. In other words, if you know you need to dial 5 MOA per your dope, why not just aim at the 5 MOA tick mark on your reticle instead. Is there an advantage to one over the other?
I am assuming use of FFP or correct magnification on a SFP scope.

The advantage is speed. Most of us I would imagine can do either/or.

once doped in i use the reticle, wind doesnt push the round out of the ten ring at 1,000, so hold off for wind either left or right favor still in the X ring, just how I do it

First you want to make sure your knob reading vs reticle hold give you the same up, down range. Then as said, using just the reticle is way faster if you need the speed. When at the bench I'll dial most of the time, but in the woods I hold everything up to 40 IPHY. My reticle's (USO MDMOA's)are marked each (1) IPHY so it's very easy to eyeball and hold.
Once you learn your up's the more you hold over vs dial. Also, its hard to get a rev or more out, just using the reticle but,.... I've seen some try.

Shot a local match this weekend here in Georgia. The first 3 stages you could not dial your scope for elevation or wind. You were given a few moments to makes what changes you needed to before shooting, without knowing the distances, then you had to stop. If you made any adjustments during shooting, you got DQ'd. Distances were 177, 292, 374. You know match directors like to be sneaky. I believe holding is quicker. Dialing is more pinpoint accurate.

i hold wind and dial for elevation usually. the advantage to dialing a turret is you don't have to worry what magnification your scope is on, with a reticle you do, it has to be on a specific magnification. using the reticle does allow you to keep your eye in the scope, and is usually faster than dialing

Everybody here has pretty much summed it up. It's faster to hold elevation. I hold for pretty much everything except precision. If I am sitting at a bench with time to dial, and I want the most precise shot possible, then I dial. Usually though I engage targets at a fairly rapid pace, with the aid of a spotter. Hold over XX mils, Right/Left XX mils.

With any time behind a gun you will easily be able to do both.

And this is the reason that for me, a FFP scope is faster.

Don't think that's true with FFP,
