Using sling on barricades

Rather than hijack the thread on the FTW Sling, I'll ask here.
I have a Tab Gear sling and find I can't use it very well on the barricades. I can set it up well for one position but it is then next to useless on every other.
For those of you who have similar slings, what are you doing?

It all depends on how you wrap the sling around your support arm. Also, where you put that arm. If you have a hasty wrap, then you can move your arm out and in to get the desired pressure you need. Most of the time though, you will not need a sling on a barricade, since you normally do not have time during a competition scenario.

Meanwhile, I like the adjustability of my HTI Kopfjaeger sling. I can make minute adjustments depending on the position I am shooting from: prone, sitting, kneeling and standing.

This was one of the questions that always came up as I worked on the sling. I could get in one position and get the sling how I wanted but if I had to move or needed to move to another position I didn't have the quick ability to adjust. It's one of the reasons the bungee rear end came up. Also the stability that is provided by having the rifle pulling back into the should pocket. The guiding task was to create a sling that we could go from a carry position to a shooting position fast and still get square behind the rifle. We also added multiple adjustable cams so no matter the position or shooter the sling was able to fit the scenario. I hope this helps.

As a side note, down here there are no practical rifle matches as you know them. I am in the process of getting one recognized now, and as far as I know it is the only event in Oz which uses a barricade prop. Things like this are much harder to get permission for than it appears to be in the US but I think if I persevere, the younger shooters will jump in.

Two other methods not mentioned...

1. Attaching rear of sling to shooters belt via carabineer
2. Wrapping arm through sling where it cinches tight, high on the triceps (the Wojcik technique)

Both pics are using the SS Loophole Sling but can be done with any two-point sling that's adjustable.
The big advantage with the carabineer-to-belt technique is it doesn't use any muscle strength. Just skeletal support and body weight.
The downside is it doesn't work well on flimsy barricades.

Silhouette, you can also purchase the front half of the RAS sling which would clip into the sling you have converting it directly into our RAS sling. We were the first company to construct the precision rifle sling using the metal adjustable buckle allowing unlimited adjustment while being slung up.

My vote: I am a fan of methods taught by Caylen Wojcik, as covered already. The loop to the belt creates AMAZING stability, and when seated supports your lower back well allowing to relax the hips into the rifle, great fatigue management.

To elaborate: Loop the sling around your firing arm, use other arm to support against barricade/tripod/support. A quickly adjustable sling is almost a necessity when shooting any sort of kneeling/sitting/standing "unconventional" firing positions.

Here's a couple videos of useing The FTW Bungee sling on barracades. Also i wear a rigger belt and snap off the Bungee End and put The Standard end on with a HK Hook so that it clips into my belt.

This is a good subject. I'm always looking for ways to get more use out of the sling when shooting from the barricades. The firing arm and the belt connection are both great ideas that could be used through an entire course of fire as you transition from position to position on the barricade.
