This one might look familiar to you @pmclaine, AmEmb Monrovia 1996 overlooking the fishbowl north.
I may get out shooting later today, need to teach my step-daughter and my lady some hammer pair shooting and other defensive drills, but chasing electrical and misfire issues on the old Exploder along with some pretty strong and cold winds and chance of snow coming in may thwart that and keep the ladies indoors for the day. ETA: Yep, I got to work on the truck busting knuckles in the cold and the ladies got to stay in. Looking like I'll end up changing head and intake gaskets along with the new alt and starter over Thanksgiving. Oh well...

That's a sexy beast PM. I really need to get my A1 put back together since I raided my G-series action for an A5 build and have a slotted 168xxx for my A1 that's still sitting in the box. Raven6 needs to get back in the game dammit!
Raven is building again. I have all the parts for a .223 M40 off at his shop now.
In the morning we were hit pretty steady by rain.
After lunch we had a front come through with rain, graupel and wind, lots of wind.
Shooting at 750 yards was a chore. We were shooting from low to high and the wind seemed to be swirling in a bowl it was not a pleasant period of shooting but it was instructional.
After the front moved through we had falling temps, clear skies and wind.....
The 1000 yard range....
At 1000 the elevations are about on par. The winds seemed to have less effect at the greater height. Two windsocks pretty much gave a steady indication of wind at our backs for a zero effect. You cant really see the impact area but its in the "bowl" off in the distance.
I was getting more reliable hits at 1000 than I was at 750.
The trees either side of the 1000 platform offer a good windbreak so your round starts off on the right track before it meets less protected areas at the 750 platform.
A good day but Im weather beat right now.
Tomorrow hopefully some M40 shooting at 300 yards.

Mamba Point and the Masonic Lodge on top of the hill. We used to PT sprints up the hill to the Lodge. Spooky ass place. I can almost smell the shit from the open sewers in the streets.

Well, I'm not a marine, nor have I ever served in any branch of any military. But, I did do some shooting yesterday on the US Marine Corp Birthday...

Hey AJ glad you found someone to read it to you....
Going with 168s because.....
A. I have a shit ton of them.
B. I'm keeping the Leupold 3-9 zeroed at 100 yards and holding mil dots at range (the red circles are 1.4 mils above my intended POI to help with hold during load development). I intended this little guy to be a short range fun gun, maybe 600 yards or so. The scope mag and reticle become a bit less useful at too much distance. Probably fine for people but I usually shoot paper.
The 168s seem to hold a little advantage over 175s up to about 600 yards.
Ill rethink that though when Im all out of 168s.

Bunch of ol' Marines standing around a fire before a match on THE birthday. Patting each other on the back like they made it out of Chosin. Only here it was only like 33 degrees. I pointed that out so they started busting my balls about the USAF. I just calmly tossed the empty spray paint can in my hand into their fire and walked over to the firing line acting like I was dicking around with my shit. Momentarily, BOOM!. It was louder and stronger than I anticipated. Fucking can went tumbling through the air with ashes floating down like snow. Funny shit. They really do hit the deck.

That is the sort of shit that brought that situation to a head. Half those jarheads had some sort of recent surgery. They looked like the wounded warrior project logo helping each other off the ground all groaning and shit. Range Master was like why you do that shit people could have got injured, lol (him lol not me). I was like I didn't have any real fireworks to help celebrate so I improvised. He say okay that makes more sense now.
I think I've told you this before, but that is one SICK rifle. Enjoy it.

U.S. Marine Corps Rules:
1. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.
2. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough.
3. Have a plan.
4. Have a back-up plan, because the first one probably won't work.
5. Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
6. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun whose caliber does not start with a "4."
7. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.
8. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral & diagonal preferred.)
