I got a question for any retired Marine scout snipers, I have been looking for the Marine scout sniper field handbook for a long time and wondered if anyone had it and would be willing to either sell it or make a copy of it, I know these are hard to find but I've looked everywhere . The book has a sniper/spotter on the cover in full Ghillie suit. Please help a guy out I have some friends looking into it but I would love to have it

Goddamnit… I just got divorced AT Christmas, and when she locked me out of the computer, I lost a bunch of shit. Thank god I printed off those thousands of pages of M2 manuals first. Lost my 13-7.

So I don't have the marine shit but I have the army manuals. I have the 3-21.8 (supersedes 7-8) infantry rifle platoon (my unit helped re-write that FWIW, first change in forever) the 3-20-98 scout platoon, and 23-10, sniper. Those 3 manuals sorta relate to one another if you ask me. I also have some other manuals, M4, etc. FWIW, FM is a field manual and TM is a technical manual.

If these don't do it for you, you can go to Scribd where I found 'em and search there. It's free to join for a trial period, then you have to pay a fee every month for it. If you are savvy, you can go through there and search for all you want, download it and cancel it before it costs anything. That's how I got these.

This is what I want

Those books weren't always issued, not even in SSBC. I have some sets of books in storage, I will see if I can find one.

Yeah, same in army. Imagine a Bde. of infantry having to share like 30 7-8's. I never understood that, should be basic issue. Most of us ended up buying our own, but even then they were hard to find locally.

It's not just about shooting tips and the reason I wanted a handbook is I've always wanted a usmc scout sniper handbook
For as long as I can remember not because some of the data may not help me but the marine corps is in my heart

I went through the SSBC 1-93 and we were issued the 1-3B. This was standard issue for all Marine snipers going through at the time. I have a couple copies. I can honestly say I had never seen said handbook issued.

Does anyone have a spare FMFM 1-3B that isn't a pdf a paperback is what I'm looking for I looked and those may have been a one time thing with the sniper/spotter kn cover.

That's not a 1-3B. That is a handbook produced by III MEF in 1999, and is not an official manual at all. Having that book will do nothing to help your shooting, it is all mission specific information and I wouldn't give out a single page of it without knowing 100% the person I'm giving it to is a USMC HOG.

The copies on line are currently the only ones available. I've been reading your thread and as a Marine it seems to me like your hunting a rag that you shouldn't have in the first place. I was a winger with a secondary security MOS, Real snipers won't be so eager to just hand this stuff over to anyone that hasn't been vetted. These books won't improve anything but your tactical knowledge base. Too many wannabes on the net today. Looking for secure info...

With your first post you somehow managed to quote the wrong person in a thread that's been dead for 4 years, which was originally started by a guy who hasn't been on this site in 2 years. We can always use another Marine making ARFCOM GD quality level posts around here, Semper Fi brother!

Wasn't aware he was dead, but I still stand on my statement; anyone hunting USMC or US Military documents that are not accessable on line have no business requesting access to them. Thanks for the heads up.

The guy you quoted is probably still alive, I said that this thread was dead. The discussion had completely run it's course, it's over, this thread is (or was) dead.

Stick around, you'll figure out this forum shit eventually.

Threads that haven't had a post in them for over six months are generally considered "dead", unless there's new specific information relating to it to bring the conversation back up. Otherwise, we tend to think of old conversations being brought back up with as much favor as men do when their wife/girlfriend brings back up, out of the fucking blue, that one time three years ago they looked at a hot chick's cleavage for more than three Mississippis, and we're forever in trouble for that shit.

@Strykervet was always a cool bubba too, wish he was still around but hope he's well wherever he is.

He is still around. At least was around Christmas or maybe Thanksgiving. Just not on as often. And, yes, good guy for sure.

Oh thanks guys, that really means a lot to me, and yeah, I haven't been around much lately... Haven't been on the computer at all really. Been dealing with a bunch of problems at home (paid for a new roof, STILL have leaks, and it's been impossible to find anyone willing to do the damn work, nobody apparently WANTS to work now, can't do it myself, roofing company is just totally inept, and it's been driving me insane) and I got hit with some health problems and also snapped a tendon in my ankle several months back, my foot became useless and it's a long story. Went from not being able to walk much to not being able to walk or even drive to the store. Haven't been able to even stand or load ammo or work on things at the bench. A pressure ulcer developed on the bottom of my foot that went to the bone and I spent months fighting infections and fevers. Just got done with a VERY complex and involved surgery that can best be described as a total foot reconstruction. Still healing from that, just got two rods and 70 staples removed. The meds they put me on didn't help with clarity of mind, one made me complete fool, another made me sick to my stomach. Stuck in bed a lot, it sucks.

Old computer was also dying (sounded like a lung cancer patient when you'd fire it up) and didn't wanna lose info before I could replace it so I stayed off it until I could do that. America's aspirations towards becoming the next third world country made it nearly impossible to source a damn graphics card. Finally managed to get a new computer with everything like I wanted it.

It's just been a long hard road in general lately. I just have the WORST luck!

But I'm still alive so don't make that memorial patch like we did for Veer_G just yet (I miss that guy!). Didn't end up in jail or the looney bin or anything. Between doctor appointments and dealing with contractors that apparently aren't willing to work for money anymore, just been binging on old tv shows and reading and trying to manage what I can around here.

Noticed you guys mentioned me in that alert button --I think about you guys often still. Now that I'm healing up some and have something to look forward to I'll try and get around here more often. I feel bad about not coming on here more often just to drop in.

Oh, it was a friend I met on here that actually took me to my surgery appointment, he drove nearly 100 miles the night before and crashed on the couch to pick me up, then over 100 miles to the damn hospital next morning and no-shit waited ALL DAY (checked in 6am, left 7pm, before and after 2 hour drives) for the surgery to be done then drove me back home that night and then had to go back home himself. Probably 400+ miles all said and I'm so grateful for his help that words can't describe it. So I have been staying in touch with a few people outside the internet.

Motherfucker wouldn't even let me pay for the pizza.

Definitely the best bunch of guys around here!

My college text books on mathematics and physics and things I learned stalking prey as a kid are far more lethal concepts and ideas, and without the actual schools, lectures and hands on working with others, you're really only getting part of the picture anyway. I have zero patience or tolerance for book banners/burners or people that want to restrict information, regardless of it's nature.

That said, I won't make it easy or disseminate information to someone I know is gonna use it in a crime against others --I'm not here to facilitate criminals or make it easier for shitbags to hurt people.

These manuals aren't some super secret shit. Who says he shouldn't have it? The information in them isn't going to transform you into some amazing ninja killer overnight. We discuss more complex and up to date ideas on here, and sure that Frank's online classes are more in-depth with respect to shooting. These books are generally written for ignorant (lack of knowledge mind you, not stupid) children just out of high school when you think about it --they're basically the "Dick and Jane" of shooting, sniping, whatever.

There are far better books written on the subject.

Thanks man, trying to reintegrate as a contributing member of the gang again!

I won't lie, it has been a hard year though.
I feel you man. I got hit with a torn rotator cuff in the fall. Opted to forgo surgery and get a stem cell injection which if you ever have the option to get I can’t say enough good things about it. I’m 6 weeks post injection now and it’s feeling great but haven’t been able to shoot until now cause of running the bolt. Hopefully things work out for you man. I know they will. 🙏
