Rifle Scopes USO EREK knob

Re: USO EREK knob

Yes, I have heard of that method with the windage rings.
It's cool that they developed an overall system.

On the MTC....gotcha. They are already pretty good but I certainly won't complain about improvements.

Honestly, if I am willing to spend this much on a scope, and I am, I would not leave it on a rifle that had such serious windage alignment problems. Either the base is screwed, or the action is whacky, or the barrel is....or someone screwed them up installing them. I was amazed with my USO on my GAP, I was .4 mils right and dead on zero EREK w/ 175gr and .3 right and .1 high with 168gr.

Re: USO EREK knob

Thought I would lend some info on the subject. My SN3 3.2-17 has a 34mm tube and is zeroed at 100 yards. I have 5 complete turns of elevation up (45 mils) and I watched the reticle move until the last click. A quick calculation on JBM says my Lapua needs 45.5 mils to get out 2700 yards. What am I missing?

Re: USO EREK knob

I went ahead and double-checked my 2006-era SN-3 3.2-17x44 with 30mm tube and 1/4 IPHY EREK mounted on a 20 MOA base.

Windage has 114 IPHY total movement though I did not watch to be sure the reticle was moving. I am 6 IPHY off center of travel.......worse than I remember but still respectable.
When I chambered this barrel I did not spend the time to index it for curvature.

Elevation has 61.5 IPHY movement(actually moving the erector) with my EREK set to stop 4.5 IPHY below my 100 yard zero. This leaves me 57 IPHY of "up" adjustment. Way more than I need unless I want to try pushing my 308 past 1225 yards or so. I am not so inclined.

The EREK moves well past there but the erector stops moving at that point. I "could" drop it onto a 30 MOA base and extend my range, but I have no good reason to do so.

Re: USO EREK knob

Hey Rafael, I finally spoke to Arnold at USO today. Setting the knob to work as a zero stop may leave a bunch of down travel if the base isn't sloped enough(duh, I knew that part).

Apparently he admonishes customers that request the zero stop setup because upon receiving their new scope, they get pissed because the scopes total vertical travel isn't as advertised when using a 20 MOA base. The admonishment part confused me, I'm clear now.

Re: USO EREK knob

Great info and discussion here guys, lot of great info that I know very little about; I have a lot to learn that's for sure. Liking this thread much more than the Premier thread below.

Cpl Snafu;
Thanks for letting us know of your conversation with Arnold.
I certainly don't carry his knowledge....damn nice to be able to just call-up and speak to someone like him.
I did not order a "zero-stop", but do use the bottoming feature of the EREK as a zero stop....as many do.

SoCal;
Yeah, that thread was a rough one.

I much prefer a thread like this one.....I learned a few things from it.
