Both scopes are top of the line cost about the same.
You get better options with the USOs. Quality control and customer service with USO are excellent.

I will be buying used so I will not be ordering the options I want, however I did find one with pretty much everything I want for a good price. I really like premiers MOA reticle, I will only be buying MOA reticle, I prefer that over mills.

I do think that USO is more of a "Burger King" philosophy, have it your way...I run USO's on three rifles and I like them all. I have not seen a Premier so I can't comment. If you can find someone around you that has optics for you to look through all that much better to decide.

I just traded off a Premier 5-25 for a USO 5-25. Couldn't be happier with the trade. Glass is comparable, but the options for the USO can't be beat. I'll be sending it in for an internal bubble level retrofit next month.

One feature that really sold me on a Premier was the tool less zero turrets. Also, their MOA reticle is truly awesome and precise. Premier's are built like a tank (34mm tube) and knobs/clicks are great. I've only handled one USO scope and it seemed solid as well. A lot of these things are personal preference but I think for a tactical scope the Premier is the way to go. I thought it was odd the USO scopes have "US OPTICS" in big bold white letters on the side of the objective lens bell, not good option for tactical users, they should consider maybe subdued lettering. Anyway both scopes track great, have good internals, the only thing I would say the Premier has better than a USO is clearer glass. As always the best thing to do is handle both yourself and see what fits you best.

I don't own either, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I have used both scopes, but they did belong to someone else, so I didn't do a lot of adjusting. I just used them. Doing a side by side, I felt that the Premiere had noticeably better glass. That is, of course, not to say that the USO was bad. If it hadn't been a side by side comparison, I really don't know that I would have been able to tell the difference.

USO. Get every option you want including an internal bubble level which no other scope manufacture offers that I'm aware of.

I have several USO & Premier scopes, and like both. For me the glass quality is similiar and both are a step above NF. It really comes down to which reticle you want and what options.

I've owned both and have shot a PH 5-25 side by side with a USO 3.8-22. In terms of turrets, I always liked the USO EREK for its low profile and positive, well spaced increments. The PH's MTC is also excellent, providing sharp 'clicks & clunks'. But the MTC turret clicks are more closely spaced, so going a tenth past your dope can happen easier, if you ain't careful. Personal preference on what you like better, regarding turret adjustments.
The PH's tool-less re-settable design is great, especially if you swap scopes around.

If those are in your budget definitely go with a S&B. The glass is amazing and the majority of military and police agencies use em. I know for a fact that's what was used in usmc scout sniper school on all the .308s. The 50s had em as well. There is no better test.

USO and S&B are both amazing. I chose USO because I sat behind both and used them. The USO won hands down. For the same money I was able to get EXACTLY the scope I wanted as I found I didn't care at all for the turrets or reticles available on the S&B.
Your eyes can only see so much resolution and all of our eyes are different so you will get different answers. Ultimatetly you decide.
Before you buy, why don't you call each company and see who gives you the best customer service, I did and this was also a clue.

Have been using USO almost exclusively up until a week ago when I bought my first Premier... I still am leaning towards the USO in a race, but my son is totally sold on the Premier.. says the glass is better, likes the feel of the turrets.. I wonder just how much aesthetics play into it... perhaps more than we/I think?

I spent over an hour with my S&B and PH on my back porch yesterday afternoon trying to determine with one I wanted to keep or sale, comparing them back and forth each looking at the same object 400-500 yards away. In all honesty, the PH has just as good of glass and less tunnel vision than the S&B. Clicks feel just as good and the MTC on the PH are much better then the MTC on my S&B. The PH MTC does not jump clicks. Perhaps its the bigger knob. I cannot agree that S&B is head and shoulders above the PH. Could be that I got a jem, but I dont think so. I would rather have a S&B or PH over the USO. Thats just me. I do also love the EREK knobs.

I really appreciate your review. To be able to do a side by side comparison is the only way to go. I think your impressions that the S&B and the PH glass are extremely similar sounds pretty accurate...I believe PH sourced the glass from S&B / Schott.

SLED Sniper, not trying to start an intardweb battle with you but what you got to shoot (most guys in uniform are very envious) is hardly representative to what the MIL and LEOs get.
From what I know of the Scout Sniper program it is very squared away, far and above many other schools.

But chances are, other than an occasional elective modification, you will never need to contact them (S & B). The other two have awesome customer service, that should be kept on speed dial...

Rob is spot on. I was blown away that I was able to pick up the phone a call S&B and get a voice on the other end of the line. They spent a lot of time with me answering my questions and responded to emails very quickly. I personally chose S&B over the others mentioned after looking through each one. I would highly encourage you do the same. I think they are all comparable in quality. It just comes down to personal choice.

Comparatively speaking, what percentage of S&B, Premier and USO scopes get returned for service work? We have all been informed that the S&B is vastly superior in construction, but I would love to know how/where you got your data/stats.

No, I am saying that there are a ton of guys here that spout off get ONLY fill in the blank with no info other than that and if you don't then your scope sucks.

Are you blind? Maybe you climbed Pikes Peak one times? How can you compare USO glass to PH? I have looked through both and there is absolutely no comparison what so ever.
Look; you get what you pay for in a scope. Consider ALL that comes with the scope. Glass quality, function, warranty, durability, Low light capability, price etc.
Do not let anyone fool you. Not trying to say USO is a bad scope because it is excellent. But... It is NOT in the same class as some others period.

No, I'm not blind. phreakmode was kind enough to send me his scope and I did a comparison side by side on small targets out past 800 yards. The glass was comparable. While my eyes are approaching 50, I am far from blind.
So, thank you for your words of wisdom, but I did my research, and chose the US Optics.
And I have climbed Pikes Peak four times. Nice view from up there.
No, I'm not blind. phreakmode was kind enough to send me his scope and I did a comparison side by side on small targets out past 800 yards. The glass was comparable. While my eyes are approaching 50, I am far from blind.
So, thank you for your words of wisdom, but I did my research, and chose the US Optics.
And I have climbed Pikes Peak four times. Nice view from up there.

I meant no disrespect, but you can do a side by side comparison all you want. Perhaps you need more time behind the two scope's to understand the difference. Mirage reading for example. I know with 100% certainty a USO doesn't have read mirage as good as a Premier. Bullet trace is another. If you really enjoy bullet trace at extended distances, your just not going to pick it up as easy with glass that isn't Zeiss, Premier, S&B, Steiner etc..
Again, no disrespect at all, but many in here will agree you just can't compare the two. Can't go wrong with a USO either way though. Glass is still really good, customer service exellent, warranty is good to go and the scope is a tank without wheels.
If I had to use 1 scope to beat a nail and trust it afterwards it would be a Premier. The most recent contract with the USMC is the Premier Heritage if that says anything.

Not in my experience. Not in my experience. The old, everyone has an opinion, but if yours isn't the same as mine, you are an idiot.
I have heard, but do not know for certain, that USO uses Schott glass as well.
I have seen more than one person say the glass in the USO was inferior to other top end scopes one SOME units, not across the board.
I have looked through a PH, seemed very bright and clear. I did not shoot with it.
I'm poor, so I run an IOR.

I have looked through both and preferred the Premier Hertage glass. To me it just just seemed vibrant and more clear. If you possibly can get behind both. It's always good to play before you pay especially on such expensive purchases. Good luck and I'm sure whichever one you choose you'll be happy.
