Rifle Scopes USO ST 10 ?

US Optics question for you ST-10 owners.

I do not have a collimator to "spin" the scope in and center the scope out.

First ?, can you "count" the wind. and elev. clicks and center the erector like on other scopes?

Second ?, are the ST-10's (EREK 1/2 MOA elev.) zero stops and if so, how do you set the elev. knob on them?

I know there are both "Noob" ?'s but I have never owned a USO and recently acquired my first.

Already been there, don't have a boresighter as I never use them. Hence the ? on counting clicks to zero the erector. Already saved the link you posted for lens cleaning on the USO's.

Call USO and speak with Jeff Fertal. He is excellent and their customer service is beyond that of any company I have ever dealt with. Jeff helped me with the then somewhat confusing instructions they used to send out. Here are the instructions he sent me via email:

<span style="font-style: italic">"To setup your ST-10 with a zero stop just follow these instructions:

1) While holding EREK knob still, insert a 1/8” hex wrench into the center of the knob and turn it counter clockwise until it stops.

2) Turn the EREK knob clockwise until it stops.

3) At this point you can either back the EREK knob off a few clicks so you have some travel below your zero or you can leave it and have the knob stop at your 100 yard zero. Some people like having a little bit of travel below zero just in case they are shooting a different load or in different weather conditions/altitude and they need to reset their zero. If you would like to have a few clicks below zero just turn the knob counter clockwise the amount of clicks you would like.

4) While holding the EREK knob still, use the 1/8” hex wrench to adjust the center screw of the EREK knob and set your 100 yard zero.

5) Once you have your 100 yard zero set, loosen the two small hex screws on the top of the EREK knob and rotate the EREK knob cap so that the zero aligns with the reference line on the spool. The knob should spin freely and you should not feel any clicks. When the zero is aligned on the EREK knob cap tighten the two screws on the top of the knob.

As far as centering the erector goes. I started by dialing the erector (and windage) knob all the way out. Then i counted the clicks dialing them in until they stopped. I.e. say i had 100 clicks of elevation, i backed the knob out 50 clicks thus 'centering' the erector. Do this for the windage also. Then i took a cardboard box and cut a V in each side of the box to make a cradle for the scope to sit in. Looking through the scope at 100yds pick out a small aim point. When you rotate the scope in the V block you will see the center of the crosshair move in an oval patern. Adjust the elevation and windage clicks so that the crosshair stays centered and does not move in a circular motion when spinning the scope in the V block. That gives a true center for the erector. Then when you place your scope in the scope rings, look through the scope at the bore sighter. This will tell you how far off the bore axis is with the scope center. USO sells windage adjustable rings so you can center the optic without moving the erector.

For the most clarity and windage movement you want the erector centered.

All this information came with my T-Pal and is probably with the paperwork for your ST-10.

Sorry for the revival of this thread, I had a customer with a question about this thread.

DO NOT COUNT CLICKS!!!! You should only count the clicks that actually move the erector. There are some phantom clicks at the top of the travel. Using a bore sighting device will let you see the clicks that actually move the erector.

MULEHUNTER has in correct in above post.

Use a piece of Tupperwear(sp?) that will fit the turret inside. Cut two V gooves so that the tube will spin on axis where the rings mount. Look through the scope and rotate the scope on axis. You want to adjust the E&W knobs so the reticle spins on axis with the target you are looking at through the scope.
