Looking for an optic for a new 6.5prc I just built and would like to get something around a grand to get me through the next few months. Both of these optics are in my budget. Additional criteria is 34mm(got a ton of 34mm rings) center dot reticle mil. Feedback appreciated.

What’s so difficult about setting the zero stop

I don’t think it’s so much that it’s difficult, more the fact that you are limited to only 1 full rotation of the turret with the zero stop in place.

I have both the USO and Ares. The USO has better glass and eye box. The Athlon has better turrets and the zero stop. I would take the advice from the post above and try to get the Cronus BTR. It is probably the best scope out there for the price.

Edit: Sorry, didn't catch the center dot reticle requirement. I still think you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least consider these:

Cronus on sale at Camerland:. https://cameralandny.com/shop/brand...9afa-0135-d0da-00163e90e196?variation=1631358

Or the Bushnell XRS2 at Midway: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1019633469

Problem I have with the Cronus is the lack of locking windage turret. This is a rifle I’ll hunt with some so I’d like to be able to lock the windage down. This is also a temporary optic as I’ll be putting an nx8 on it most likely.

I would really think about the NX8. I would take the Cronus over it everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.
Look at the Leupold Mark 5 if you want locking turrets.

Why is that? Been looking at mk5 but like the added magnification from the nx8 on the top and bottom end. Cronus is out due to lack of locking windage.

I ended up getting that XRSii with the h59. I liked my dmr2 a lot so this should keep me happy for a bit. Only down side is that at 37oz it’s heavier than I would like.

The Mark 5 is better in every way to the NX8 except for maybe the mag range. In my opinion, the NX8 is not worth the price. There are much better optics in that price range.
