Re: Utah Shootouts - Carbine Only - Apr 14, 2012

Just got back, was out to the range again this weekend. Got the control table all set up with two computers and two mover controllers. Everything working at the same time. You guys will have a riot. I'll get a list of shooters up here when I wake up again.

Looks like we'll be running a second shift of competition. Cam and company will probably be coming down from the Cowboy Town after their pistol match. Any of our group will be able to go to the Cowboy Town and do some of Cam's pistol stages. (so bring a pistol)

I'll keep you posted of any updates to that.

No restrictions as long as it is pistol type ammo.

DC, I'll get you on the official USSS list when I get home.

Re: Utah Shootouts - Carbine Only - Apr 14, 2012

Still super jealous you guys have such a bitchin' range. The Logan one is nice, but pales in comparison. Two hours+ from SLC is definitely worth the drive, but 4 from Logan is a bit much.

That was me but I might be dragging a few guys from Ogden along. They are trying to work out a schedule conflict.

Re: Utah Shootouts - Carbine Only - Apr 14, 2012

Thanks for letting me know you guys.

We will be combining with Castle Action Shooting League in the afternoon. Their shooters can come down to the Law Enforcement area and shoot our carbine course. Ours can go up to Cowboy Town and shoot their pistol course. So bring a pistol too if you like.

Any IDPA or IPSC type holster is ok. You will be drawing from the holster under time. Bring 125 rounds MINIMUM for the whole course of fire. Scoped or compensated pistols will be in their own class.

Re: Utah Shootouts - Carbine Only - Apr 14, 2012

I will escape the clutches of the melting sand and make my journey north to participate in the fine art of slinging hot molten lead down range at moving targets to compete with some of the finest lead slingers in the land. ( Count Me In )

Is anyone driving through Salt Lake City that would be willing to give me a lift to and from the match? I live in Bountiful, but I can meet pretty much anywhere in SLC...

Match video: http://youtu.be/uLk5xcnVm-I

Had 21 shooters in all. Later in the afternoon it started snowing hard and was destroying the cardboard backers. The afternoon squad didn't get to finish.

Great to see some new faces, some from neighboring Idaho, and all the regulars.

First 2 squads got off 130 rounds in 5 stages. Many strings of fire at as many scenarios of turning and moving targets.

Will get a video link up here as soon as youtube lets me on their site.

Of those who finished Robert A. took first place.

Here's a few pics. Didn't get any of the mover or the close up point shooting.

Clint, thanks for putting on a great match. I must say the weather was variable: we started the pistol stage in calm sunshine & finished an hour later with an inch of snow & a stiff breeze. None of us wanted to recover our brass badly enough to go digging for it in the snow...

See you in September.
Cheers,

I think variable is putting it way too mildly for later in the afternoon. As we started the 50 yd tilt up targets for Charlie squad in the afternoon half the cardboard backers just fell off the uprights. I guess they had a legitimate complaint by saying they could hardly see the 100 yd turning because it was snowing so hard.

Here's all the scores. The first number is 60 rounds at the 100 yard targets. The second number is total for all stages for Alpha and Bravo squads. Caliber other than .223 or 5.56 is after that.

Scoring was 1 point per hit in the kill zone.

Alpha:
David S....36...87
Robert A...50...104
Jim L......29...69
Keven R....28...72
Stan R.....27...67
Travis R...19...48.....5.45X39

Bravo:
Jay S......41...79
Bryan S....26...59
Shonn T....18...53
John T.....26...42
Jantsen T..14...36
Jim M......12...38

Charlie:
David N....26
Jackson N..16
Cam W......31
Clint G....32............22lr
David K....8.............22lr
Shane D....26
Bryce D....29
Joe S......10
Ryan H.....18
Carter R...38

I guess that makes 22 shooters all together. There were a couple DNF in charlie squad even before big target malfunction.

thanks guys for giving that target system a workout that it's never had before. It must be a little early in the season cause we couldn't shoot the 100 yd mover, it had too much ice on the ropes and pulleys.
