I suspect i should see a substantial amount of noses turned from this question. Has anyone used these? They say made in us, but i suspect machined overseas and assembled here. I have a dmr i need rings for, and am a cheap bastard. If anyone had experience with these i would appreciate it.

Seekins makes top quality rings for a decent price. I am not one to turn my nose up at any product based on its price but I have always heard to stay away from UTG. That's been a good enough reason for me.
I am a cheap bastard too but one place I don't skimp is the part that is holding my scope to my rifle. That and I wouldn't buy anything with the UTG name on it. There are other less expensive rings. Keep looking.
I have two sets of them, and for the same reasons you just described. Yes, I was unsure myself with them, until I got them.
They say made in USA, I am not sure, as the packaging is that cheap thin cardboard I only see from across the Pacific. All the measurements on their site is metric, so I would asume they are. I could be wrong though. Anyway, first impression of them was very nice machining, and put together well. They are wide rings, not the normal I see from most manufactures. The top half ring screws, heavy duty, and not small by any means. All the corners are beveled edges. Nice machine work has been done on them.
It has a spring loaded torx tensioner screw for the rail. I prefer the hex nut style, but work just fine anyway. For the scope you are wanting to mount, the medium height rings is perfect for a 50 mm objective, just enough clearance on a AR flat base which is what I prefer. I have looked around at a lot of manufactures with ring height for a 50 mm objective. Very few have the perfect height for one without having to use something to raise you cheek height and getting some air. Some do but cost is up there. I think the UTG medium height is at 1.250". You might even get away with a 56 mm objective with them on a AR based flat rail.
So, I got them for $40 on sale, worth it for me. They are still on my rifles, work just like intended, no issues, hold precise shots, have yet to loosen up, and leave no ring marks. I like them, will not hesitate to buy more.

How about the Burris XTR Signature Rings? They are fairly cheap, take away the need for lapping, and even provide shims for up to 40 MOA of cant. I've got a couple pairs and really like them.

Given a free return policy I ordered a set. Very heavy duty, as I recall steel. No noticeable machining deficiencies and the surfaces mate together well and on the rail too. Screws fit uniformly, no slop. Let's face it, machining a set of rings is not demanding and primarily requires not letting the operation go to crap.Shooting so far on my 6.5x47 has been solid.
Like Rob01 above, rings are something I don't skimp on, having had bad experiences with zeros shifting between range trips with inexpensive rings.
I use Seekins rings and Spuhr and AI one piece mounts.
However, I agree with Temper (in general) about UTG Pro products, the ones I've handled (and used on some AR builds) are well made and a very good value IMHO.
The only application where I'm using inexpensive (Vortex "Tactical") rings is a .22, and that hasn't proven itself to me just yet (need a few more range trips).

You can get Seekins rings for the cost of a good steak dinner with a couple drinks. Why even chance it? Not worth the possible headache to save a few bucks.
I've sort of wondered about that as well. For my good rifles I get arc m10s or leupolds but on my win 52 I went with the 20 buck a single ring vortex and I honestly have no complaints. And since I saw the xlr and leapers rings that are identical I've kind of questioned the whole thing. Surely the crap coming out these days is better than the mid level 10 years ago which was adequate.
The fit and finish look pretty damn good. Comparing to my nightforce and vortex mounts, it seems pretty close. I cant say as to how perfect the matchup is, it looks goods, but that is entirely subjective. Mounted and torqued to 20in/lbs, then removed, and no marks on the tube. The medium is a little low on an ar 10, and a little high on a custom mauser with 20 moa rail, pretty damn close on a rem 700 egw rail. I have used other utg rings on dick around projects, these are better rings than those by a world. They look good so far. If i only had one gun, these would not be the rings, because they are unproven, but i think they will work for a good variety of projects until i see their performance.
These rings are very good quality and fit. I've bought the 34mm medium profile QR versions (1.26 inch center height) which compared to say the Arken Optics medium 1.26 34mm, they're WAY better. However, 1.26 medium height lays my 56mm objective bell right on top (touching) the picatinny rail. You can't even place a bra or scope cap covers on with this. you MUST buy the high profile for 56mm objective lens. For my EP5 this would be the Arken high rings (1.45) which is just like UTG Leapers high profile rings at 1.46. The high profile rings are about a quarter inch higher than the medium profile. For obvious reasons we won't even mention low profile rings which are only good for tiny objective lenses.
The UTG pro rings are great. Quick release (QR) is even better.
I stay away from cantilever type mounts. Too many people complain of bending them just slightly and there goes your mount. A pair of QD or QR scope rings are perfect.

I don't skimp on anything, especially rings... Either Seekins Precision or ARC M-Brace on all my rifles.
You can occasionally cut some corners to save cash on a build, but anything that is required to maintain precision and tension is not that place to skimp.
The cheapest rings I'd buy are the Arken HALO 34mm rings. I have a few sets that came in the bundle package with scopes, and they've held up just fine, as long as you follow the torque specs. I've even ran them on a .300 Ackley and a 7mm STW while doing load development with a big heavy Arken SH4 Gen2 6-24x50 on them, and everything stayed nice and tight. Those are the cheapest rings I'd feel comfortable recommending, only because I've seen them hold up to some heavy recoil with a heavy scope just fine.

The UTG Pro USA made rings are leaps and bounds better than the arkens. They are 50 cal rated and I believe they’d be just fine on a 50. Very heavy built.

I have since bought the UTG pro cantilever (1.56" center height for AR15) with quick release and zero hold ability and holy cow, this scope mount nice. They are built JUST like the American Defense QD auto lock mount on my Armasight zeus pro thermal optic! Same lever lock system design (slightly smaller) that also has a second tiny lock tab so it holds even if you bump it. It's also 70mm offset so I could place my EP5 exactly where I wanted it.
Had Arken made this kind of mount I would've got it. Unfortunately I had to buy and return nearly everything under this cantilever before finding one that works. It suits everything I'm looking for.
Leapers UTG Pro line of mounts (especially QR/QD mount types) are VERY GOOD and blow many others out of the water. UTG Pro rings and mounts, to its competitors, are like the Arken Optics of excellent affordable scopes. These mounts compare to American Defense. Maybe not as GOOD as American Defense or say Spuhr or Nightforces but definitely as good or better than many other KNOWN good brands like Vortex, Burris, sig sauer, wheeler, Athlon, Leupold, Warne and even Steiner! Not that any of those are bad. I'm just saying. High price shouldn't automatically say a part is good. My UTG 34mm X-High QR mount was roughly $80 bucks and it IS better than just about every brand I named off here, while most were double this price or higher. The X-Highs are rated 50bmg on the box itself while the sales ads say .338 LAPUA Magnum.
I'm not sure if they updated their rating or what but my box says rating: 50bmg right on it.
There are 3 squared recoil stops on this mount which is for high recoil. 3 is plenty. There's mounts with 2 squares and that's excellent too.
However, more than half the brands I mentioned don't offer QD locks and you want that on a scope for many reasons including cleaning or maintenance. But then there's the argument not all QD locks are made equal. While that may be true, the American Defense QD auto lock is something designed solid, rugged, beefy, able to hold zero even after remounting. While not fair to compare American Defense QD auto locks to UTG I'm doing so because literally UTGs design is IDENTICAL and although not as beefy, it's not effecting it's 50bmg rating. UTG Pro accu sync holds like a scratch on your rifle and it's hard to mess up.
The day Arken comes out with something like this I'll be all over it. I do like Arken but not their current line of ring selections. I think they're only getting started though and expansion in design is on the horizon. It's a shame too because I did try 2 different ring sets of Arken and other brands mentioned before settling on UTG 34mm X-Highs and it was a fast settle.
The main concerns I had:
1. A rigid unyielding design (won't bend or vibrate)
2. holds zero with square recoil stops (removal or remount consistently)
3. Quick Release QR or Quick Detach QD with auto lock feature (important if you remove scope, I just love this feature but it usually adds to cost)
4. offset distance (to be able to position the scope on the receiver relative to eye relief if you're on a AR15/AR10/AR50/etc or semi auto type platform with limited mount space)
5. bevel relief cuts on edges of mount or rings (smoothed out corners)
