Being playing with this idea for a work knife lately. In the summers I work on the drilling rigs, and a knife is necessary for cutting open the bags of chemicals that need to be added to the mud system. There are usually a couple of knifes around the rig, but they are generally abused and garbage, and most of the time misplaced. So I would like to have my own. I was thinking of the neck knife style because I am wearing coveralls, so I have no belt to attach it to. I know if I leave a knife in my pocket I will forget it, I always do with stuff I leave in my pockets out there. I figure I won't forget it if it's on my neck. For safety reasons, I will not be wearing it while I am on the rig floor (on the very off chance that it slips out of my coveralls and gets wrapped around a spinning peice of equipment = decapitation). I will be wearing it only when I am adding chemicals to the mud system. Also will be getting a "break away" lanyard system, just for the extra safety factor.
So the criteria is:
Cheap (preferably under $30, consider everything under $100)
Durable (it will be abused, and will get chemicals on it)
must have a proper sturdy sheath
light weight
Any help appreciated.
