Re: VA Shooters

yeah no joke!
I guess I shouldn't complain though 500 yards at roanoke rifle and revolver is only an hour from me.
I've read where you may be able to shoot on public lands if you have a hunting license anybody know anything about this??

Re: VA Shooters

Dont really know Togeneral, theres alot of farms around you , id just hit the local gunshop and see if you cant find some fellow shooters who own them just emphasize how much you care about not shooting there cattle lol, down here in the corner im privelaged to have numerous places to "Groundhog" out to about 700, put a barn out that far and i might be able to hit it that is, a few guys have some 1000 plus around so i usally run out of ammo before i run out of place

Re: VA Shooters

You will be hard pressed to find a better range than MCB Quantico, at least around NoVA. I'm new around here (Hide), but have been a QSC member for some time. They just had a great 1000yd F-class training event which would have gotten your feet wet nicely.

They run F-class matches about once a month (one this weekend). Check out there website: http://www.quanticoshootingclub.com/ for more info.

Very glad to see there is an active VA shooters group here.

Re: VA Shooters

I agree with this 100%. This is where I got my start in anything past 200 yards. I will be there Sunday.

Re: VA Shooters

Note that the match at Quantico was cancelled due to snow (can't let this opportunity go: Marines are wimps in the snow; if this was Fort Drum - my old stomping grounds - we'd be out there in 10 ft of snow)

Wish I had known about the F-class training event. I'm a new member of QSC and I had no idea they had an event like that. Sounds like exactly what I've been looking for. Hopefully they do another one in the future.

No. The match fee is a little more for non members.

BTW, if you are a CCW holder make sure your weapon is unloaded before you drive on base. You will go through a check point and show ID. Tell the guard you are going to Range 4.

Yeah I was in their website and saw the match a few weeks back. I'm a wuss too. When I saw the temps not getting into the mid thirties I decided I'd rather be cold sitting in a tree stand than cold and embarrassed on a shooting line
