Dialing in this 338 Norma build. (bolt gun)

I can get MAYBE 1 out of 10 fired cases to extract.

I'm thinking the leading edge of the bolt is engaging the barrel and not allowing the extractor claw to fully seat in the case head groove.

Or do I need to relieve the underside of the claw extractor a (very) little to get the claw to settle into the case head groove?

Or something else?

Any ideas appreciated

Can anyone sell me 2-3 unfired cases 338 Norma?

I'm using 1x fired cases I bought in bulk here. Is that a problem?

I'm no expert but I figured I would ask a question(s) that will prob be asked.

1. What action are you using?
2. What does your load look like? (Could it possibly be over pressured causing the case to stick)

Action: Stiller TAC338

No signs of over-pressure: easy bolt lift, no blowback past the case neck, no rim damage by the extractor, most cases easily tap out with a cleaning rod.

Looked at the bolt again. Extractor is set back 1/32" behind the leading edge of the bolt. I'm guessing the extractor is riding on the rim of the case head, not settling down into the groove, and the extractor claw then is not pulling the fired case out.

That make sense at all?

That is strange, I would definetly ask your smith about that. Have you tried ejecting a loaded round? Will it eject? Was thinking that once the brass is fire formed to your chamber, it should definetly eject....
