I am glad you mentioned that. I am going to build another Accurate AR without the Secret GAP Barrel Wrench. My SuperSASS barrel from Armalite is not as accurate as it once was due to all the rapid firing I am doing from it. Use to be consistent .5 MOA 4 shot groups for the first groups, but now about .75 MOA

Here is what I have so far:

1) Get a Quality trigger: Giselle Hi-Speed Match (check)
2) Get a Quality Barrel: Noveske 21" (check)
3) Use Quality Parts: Armalite 7075 Upper (check), Armalite bolt (check), Armalite BCG (check)
4) Free Float Hand-guard: SASS handguard, came with rifle (check)
5) Get a Quality Bipod: Tango Down, very solid, and like it more than my Atlas (Check)
6) Use a New Bolt with New barrel for maximum tightness (check)
7) True and Lap the Upper Receiver: Not going to do this just yet, will install the barrel without truing to see how it works. I see Brownells sells a truing kit.
8) Target Crown Barrel: thinking I won't need this since I bought a Novekse barrel.
9) Use Red loctite for the barrel extension: hoping Noveske did this.

Now since I plan to start my build with a Noveske Barrel and Gissele trigger, I am thinking I won't need much else. Talking with all my boys who have built precision ARs, all agreed those are the 2 things all you need to do. I tried to tell them about the Magic GAP barrel wrench, but they laughed at me =(

Have the bolt matched correctly to the barrel extension will make the biggest change in accuracy. A trigger will help but its not as crucial. Geiselle is good stuff. Make sure it stays oiled.

It's not a "magic GAP barrel wrench". It is the way the barrel is machined and installed onto the already trued upper receiver. They take meticulous care of their semi auto builds.

Considering that .308 Noveske uses Armalite extensions, and .308 Noveske only builds barrels for Armalite Uppers. I would say I am good to go to matching bolts with barrel extension.

Also I believe matching bolts with barrel extension has more to do with proper headspace than anything magic. I have 2 Armalite AR10's, and both headspaced between 1.630-1.634". For my SASS, I seat the bullets to 2.81" which is close to seating to the lands, this also helps with keeping everything tight, and my groups are definitely more consistent.

You mean to tell me there is no GAP Magic Bolt Wrench? What makes GAP guns accurate than? GAP Holy Water? Can I buy that?

By the way, here is what happens to a LWRC after only 200 rounds suppressed. Mashed Springs and shredded cup spring. I can consistently do this too. That's why I do not run my LWRC suppressed anymore

Again you're comparing apples to oranges. Bartlein barrels only come as blanks unlike Noveske. That means you can't simply attach a barrel, i.e. it requires a GOOD gunsmith to chamber and match it. Whether you want to admit it or not, when you buy a Noveske Barrel you're still paying for the work of a gunsmith. Now try and tell us all that the chambering and matching doesn't affect accuracy...

I like how you set up all your rifles... what's the lights for? CQB/clearing the local ranges? your more of an "operator" then you think... embrace yourself and stop proclaiming the hobbyist role killer.

You can't buy Bartlein Barrels with the barrel extension installed?

Schillen/Rainer-Arms Ultra Match Barrels comes with the extension installed and price is only $395 complete. If extension is installed wrong, then barrel is useless as you can't adjust headspace on an AR.

That's the beauty of the AR platform, is that the Barrels come pre-headspace (if barrel extention is already installed). It either works or it does not. What is so hard about checking headspace???

As for my LWRC, not for sale, I like it enough to keep it. It has a nice barrel, and I have set up the way I like. My LWRC shoots just fine as long as I do not shoot it suppressed.

I can post pictures but what's the use? I have 2 guys on here who has seen these tight groups shooting off a bench, fully supported by me with their own eyes. Do you want to talk to them?

Shooting is not rocket science, anyone can be accurate as long as you have a gun vises, a light trigger, and get a consistent cheek weld... even without a vise, shooting prone off a bipod and rear sandbag is also very easy for anyone, and anyone can do it.

I told 2 newby buddies (at the time they were new)..they could have same hole accuracy too. Just set up the gun, and learn to reload.. and guess what? They are doing it now!

We shoot night at both short and long distance. We leave a lattern close to the target so we can see it.. like this...

What so unsafe about shooting a target that is 300-1000 yards away? We can clearly see it in the scope. I know the surrounding area, it is up against a berm and there is only a mtn behind it.

What first photo are you talking about? My Noveske and LWRC are both about 1 MOA, if I use 2 MOA targets, as that gives me the best Point of Aim.

They're good barrels, I have a couple, one is nitrided the other might be later on. Difference between it and a GAP barrel would be cut rifling, chamber cut/finish with the reamer you want, contoured the way you want and headspaced the way you want. Most also headspace them tight as they think it improves accuracy a little bit.

But then, you probably know that and are just fucking with these guys for the hell of it.

We use spot lights too, and hunt rabbits and coyotes in the dark also. To me that is much more dangerous than the Target shooting we do.
