I caught this cool shot with my cell through the glass of my Steiner 5-25 Military w/ MSR reticle. This is from 180 yards away. Look at the definition on that treebark, it looked even better in person. I am impressed with this scope, not just for the glass but the turrets and all the features work exceptionally well. Another impressive feature I found was that the parallax seems to be right on-if I focus it myself it is usually spot on with the range listed on the parallax adjustment.

Feel free to post any other thru the scope pics in this thread, if there isn't one already made for that. stiener.jpg

My 5-25 is also exceptionally clear and agree with the parallax markings being close to dead on with dial. The only complaint I have with the MSR is the center crosshair is a tad thick at 25x for smaller targets at 800+ yards.

Edge

CoFox - What is the size of the round target 2.75 mils to the right of the center crosshair? I am trying to get a reference for the size of the crosshairs. This scope has really got me intrigued in the last couple days

I would say the MSR-2 reticle would be a nice option, just a fine floating dot in the center rather than crosshairs. But in reality if the reticle were any thinner on 25x, it would be invisible on low power. As it is, on 5x, the reticle is quite thin. Illumination helps, though.

If Steiner introduces the MSR-2 I think I might have to upgrade.

Roughly 14" for the circle.

27.78x/.3333 = 1020/1
1020x.3333=339.9999
339.9999/27.78=12.23" give or take. But it appears to be slightly larger than 1/3 Mil so I'm going to say around 14-15".

CoFox can you verify?

I can't wait to try mine out. Pics look awesome!

Trying to look through it out the window without having it mounted on anything made me feel seasick lol. Even if the intended rifle is not ready yet, I am sure it can find a temporary home :-D

mm509, another way you could figure this out that would be a bit easier than my initial method would be to take the understanding that 1 mil @ 100 yards = roughly 3.6", therefore 1 mil @ 1000 = 36". Knowing that the object is 1020 yards away and consumes just over 1/3 of a mil, you could deduce that the object is a bit more than 12", probably closer to 14 or 15 since it's just a tad over 1k yards away and appears to be just a bit over 1/3 mil.

I do not know how big that plate is. A few years ago when I first started shooting out there and found out about the place, someone said it was a 1-MOA plate, but stuff gets removed, added/changed continually out there. It seems bigger than 1-MOA to me. There's a bowling pin (steel) in the upper right, a steel p-dog(?) near center, and a rectangular plate over on the left at 1.75 mils and down 1-mil. The thing right on the center line to the left of the p-dog I have no idea what it is. KevinU or oinco might know?

This is at the DOW range near Buena Vista, CO
